Sorry you're not able to get to grips with the garden Beaus. It will still be there waiting for you when you're up to it. Sounds as though Mum is OK but it's her second fall in a couple of weeks I'm going down a week on Wednesday so they are just going to have to wrap themselves in cotton wool till then.
KEF - I'm still catching up and saw your post about your Mum. Love her expression 'stir fry'. My b.i.l's mother once bought a toy that need batteries so she asked in the shop for 'those Durex ones that last longer'. Hope your OH's back gets better soon (probably not soon enough for you) Try Fairy's plaster remedy.
good for you Clari, as thay say round here, yowm a good wench , hope you find your knickers
gosh Dove, i had no idea, fell a bit of a div now!, not bad for £90 a month in our case, and we have just had fab new street lights put in which are white led thingys, and new trees all along our street, and a huge new community "hub", feel a bit guilty i dont do more, just hadnt thought about it!
hope your mums ok, as a friend of my mums says (she is a doc) if they are able to moan about it, its not that bad! hmmm, maybe she needs to work on her bedside manner!
Yvie - I'm not sure I want to know where Clari's pants are.....
bekkie - at least you understand now! I remember someone I worked with a long time ago complaining about paying council tax (poll tax back then - a very contentious issue up here!) She couldn't understand that everyone pays in and we all use the services - some more than others. It was like banging your head off a brick wall trying to explain it Years ago, I went out with someone who had no children, and resented paying for education. I explained that when I worked full time for twenty years before having mine, I also paid for schools (and lots of other things I didn't 'use' at the time of course) but I might have done in the future. I also explained that someone else who had no children will have paid towards the school he went to...like my parents for instance. He was an intelligent person but never got it either. Mind you, he could have started an argument in an empty room....
That relationship didn't last long...
Just saw Stacey's post - great to hear you're fighting back. That b****r doesn't stand a chance of getting you Stacey. You just won't let it.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Fairy, I had the same problem when I had a discussion with someone at work who didnt have children. Her comments about why should I pay for education and childcare when I have no children really incensed me. I asked if she would like to sign to say that she would not use the services of any lawyers, doctors or policeman after all they had been educated in the system she didnt want to pay for. It actually shut her up for a while.
Nice argument Yvie. I remember hearing about a woman in the midlands who wouldn't put anything into a lifeboat collection bucket saying 'I never go to the seaside for my holiday'.
Oh Lizzie I missed your post about the poor cat too. At least you did your best for it and it's no longer suffering.
awww, just had a knock at the door, it was the little girl (13) from over the road, she often 'helps' me take the dog for a walk, does my head in at times!, but there she was, birthday card and pressie in hand, the card even had wellies on, awww, bless her, i was quite touched!
Sorry so many of us or our family members are a bit poorly - maybe some of Pdoc's Patent Cure-all is called for?
I've just got back from the Farm Shop - had to pop into the GC to pick up some more broad bean seeds - and a tray of orange violas and blue and violet panolas just leaped into my basket
