As well as spreading manure and mulching I've  sown some sunflower seeds between the terrace where we sit out and the fruit patch, and planted a new thyme and oregano as the ones we have don't always keep up with demand.

At some stage this morning, probably while I came in for coffee a sparrowhawk must've taken one of our woodpigeons - just some feathers left and no way a cat could've removed it from the garden without trace - the feathers were exactly where some were left last year when OH watched a sparrowhawk take one of the pigeons. We do get peregrines take pigeons off the roof, but I don't think a peregrine would come right down into the garden which is fairly enclosed.

KEF image I did think of going and picking it up, but they don't seem to do that .... it's ok, I can keep myself busy while I wait image

Lily the pink/red one is called Red Clock.

Dove it looks a beautiful rose. Must be exciting to form a new garden. Ours was all knee high stuff and no privacy so I planted a right selection of things that would give height, all planted too close together as I was desperate for privacy. We had to knock the house back to a shell, so all efforts went into that. Now I'm starting to look at what needs removing and what to replace with things I love.

Nearly forgot my cheapo hellibore has given birth.

OH watching men squabbling in the mud over a funny shaped ball. This will go on until 7pm . England trounced Italy, Wales are thrashing Scotland, just Ireland v France to go. image

Not a lot of gardening done today... too stiff after too much digging yesterday. I need to watch GW on i player, I fell asleep last night, by 8.30.

A bottle of SB in the fridge beckons.

Had a lovely afternoon. OH told me not to buy any more plants from the nice lady in the market. Didn't think he really meant it so I bought another hellebore image Well, at £4.50 for a pale purple one it would have been rude not to image It is 'unbranded' sadly but will look good all the same.

Don't know if anyone remembers a thread I had a good while back about some hellebores that I thought I had killed? Well am happy to report that they are all thriving and may get planted out soon image

I desperately need to create some more planting space for the never ending stream of plants I am buying. Guess I'm going to have to get the spade out soon, unless anyone wants to volunteer??? image
