Nearly 23C in the shade here in Norfolk Edd, and that's with a cooling breeze off the coast - it's absolutely glorious - the goldfinches are singing their hearts out in the ash trees and there's hoverflies and other buzzy insects busying themselves in the herb garden and al over the Shady Bank.
I've just picked a bowl full of golden gooseberries and another bowl of raspberries.
Now it's time to put my feet up and watch some Wimbledon - life doesn't get much better
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
It's absolutely beautiful here......see, it's not just Cornwall that gets it
I must admit it being very envious of everyone's fruit......mine is rubbish. Definitely need to give that some focus next year so it doesn't end up as bird food!!
BBQ tonight.......yippee, Edd's right, summer is here
Spent a lot of the afternoon picking, podding, blanching and freezing broad beans. Did a first batch before we went away of tiny ones, now they are all rather big, but still edible.
Well done GG. Hope you are feeling better.
It's now raining and put a stop to everything that needs doing outside.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Ggirl, that is something you so deserve. Often volunteers get no or little recognition and do a brill job, hope you win.
Lizzie good to have you back, enjoy your garden, weeds can wait sort out the edibles
Clari I believe that sometimes things happen for a reason I was only made redundant once at age of 51 after 20yrs with a national charity. I was hurt, angry and scared as I hadn't planned on being "retired". Turned out to be the best thing they ever did for me. I went and joined former collegues who had started their own charity I did have a slight involvement , I worked for the minimum wage, as they all did for a time, and used some of my pay off to maintain my life style. The new charity has been nominated this year for the Bevan prize. Hope you get a pay off and can do something that makes you happy x
Potato tasting trial tonight. Have harvested 2nd earlies Charlotte. Will cook separately Pentland Javelin, some Vales Emerald, and Charlotte without mint and see which to grow next year. OH washes up

Edd, to be properly revitalised you've got to do it in the North Sea - nothing like it

Me thinks that's why I can't judge the size of mini cumbers and am poor at parking.
Hi Edd
