Had a quick look  at the Brunnera Verdun and its lovely, its says tolerant of shade, the area I want to plant up is in sun for most of the day, will it be OK there.

Verdun could always come here and help with the potting. Lots of other interesting gardening stuff for him to do too, like weeding and cutting back.image

  • on the back deck. warm sun, sky flawless blue, the slightest cool breeze. dozens of  tiny golden finches flirting between the sunflowers and the blue spruce, blackbirds whistling and chortling in the pear tree. the himalayan wind chimes sound-each note just once, barely at the limit of hearing-a perfect moment.

Five tubs planted. Tulips, daffs, crocus, chicken wire, frustrated squirrel on top.image

I'm going to use de caen anemones for the top layer of most, or snowdrops.

I havn't decided what to do with the jumbo marrow. It has a prominent place on the draining board.

Next job is harvesting 20 buffyball winter squashes to add to four crown prince drying off in the polytunnel. My beans have about finished, only a few sweetcorn left. I've emptied the tomato pots, reusing the compost for bulbs with a bit of added FBB.

    Have a good evening folks.

Didn't get round to making the jam - did make the tomato ketchup it took longer than usual because the toms were juicy (reducing down). Still I'll give it away for C***** presents.

    Pear jam tomorrow I think

Definite chill in air come 4pm

The anemones are soaking. Now I've just got to find homes for all of last years pot bulbs.

They might just get a sunny spot in a line in the veg patch.
