Fritt image I think best check the clips are okay on the rest of the glass and rather than a temporary measure which will cost and need sorting later get new glass. If weather is bitter maybe bubble wrap but it will sag each time it rains.  Hugs, I like my GH better than my houseimage

  • Fritt, if you arent too bothered by the way it looks, you can cover it with polytunnel plastic, thats what i did at my allotment, it only lasts a season, but worked for me image

Pdoc an advert in newsagent / local shop two days work offered to a couple of fit blokes who like digging image and mobile number.

  • Thanks punkdoc and KEF. I think it is past it now.I have had it for nearly 25 years, and it survived transportation  from our farm in Wales when we moved.   Most of the clips holding the glass are long gone. They were not really good enough for the job and were later replaced with chocks of wood soaked in creosote. The bottom edge of the frame is rotten as well. I only need to keep the rain out so I thought the plastic roof lights would be the cheapest option.image

  • Beaus, I love your garden, it will be wonderful in the summer.

Went for a two and a half hour stomp this afternoon.......bet I only wore off 2 malteasers image

Oh heck, have forgotten what every body just said, will have to go back and read it all again lol.

  • Hello folks!

Busy day, no gardening (quite a frost overnight) but lots of h....w..k, shopping, visiting Mum (thanks BM - another lovely cuddle! image), U3A art group, etc.

Beaus Mum - think I'll go for a jasmine, even though it won't last long in the warmth of the home, because the scent is so gorgeous.  And as you say, it doesn't cost a lot to replace it in a few weeks if necessary.  And I loved your story about Beau in the garden - what a cheeky boy!  image

Runnybeak - my cat clearly despises slugs and gives them a dirty look when they invade her feeding area.  But we had a kitten once who would try eating anything that moved; she tried a slug once, and was very upset that her mouth was all covered in slime...  it took a long time to get her clean!  (Surely there should be a commercial use for slug slime?  Sticks to anything even under water, and nearly impossible to remove.)

Busy Lizzie - perhaps you need to borrow Stacey's air gun??

Bekkie - my sister had ME and was very poorly for several years, but she's now virtually fully recovered.  She just has to be careful not to get overtired.  So there IS hope!  imageimageimage

Panda - best wishes for your job search.  The right thing is out there waiting for you...  image

Re LILIES.  Just a reminder, if you have cats, that lily pollen is very toxic to them.  They get it on their fur and lick it off - I believe it causes liver failure, a nasty way to go...  image

Bother.  My GC visit tomorrow will have to be on foot or by public transport, since OH needs the car - so my purchases will be limited to what I can carry.  Suppose I could walk along the canal towpath pushing my wheelbarrow...  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

What a lovely big garden Beaus.  Bet you can't wait to see what pops up and are looking forward to all the waterliliesimage

That was quite a walk lily - sure it worked off at least four Maltesersimage.  Must admit I wouldn't care if I never saw anotherimage.  Guess what I didimage.

I certainly can't remember all that's been said today.  Well done Rb.  Shame about your pot.

Fritillary it's sad to see your greenhouse looking like that.  Hope you can find a way to make repairs.

  • BM, i reckon you need a ride on mowerimage, i would get lost in that garden, lovely! image

Well SGL, that means you can eat two more before you put on weight! image

Never mind RB, you can have another lovely lunch out tomorrow image

GG, i uses to have milk and more, really useful image

Liri, its good to hear positive things about ME, i went on one of the forums, the people are really really nice, but all seem very low and sad, not my cup of tea, if that dosent sound awful! Good choice with the jasmine, one of my favorites too, but i like the thermostat on high too so cant keep them! Your poor kitten! I would have been laughing too much to clean her up! image. Im sure you could take your barrow to the GC, or a sack truck? At least they fold up!image
