What a waste it stops Greenacres and Toby and Alys from giving a lot of great gardening advice and inspiration. I fail to see what the BBC are up to with this terrible retrograde step. Why put a presenter who is untrained in the subject as the frontman on a garden programme? It would be like replacing a chef with someone who knows how to microwave a ready meal in charge of a posh kitchen. Rubbish in means rubbish out. Such a crazy thing to do. I found Monty bad first time round and I wont be giving him a second look. Give us back our gardener Toby.
ROLL ON SPRING! Monty and Rachel's return creates a reunited, knowledgeable and charismatic team - great balance of information on all areas of gardening.Much better than the sterile, gimmicky gardening at Greenacres ( although think Alys is fab and her dog!)I felt so cheated last year on Friday nights as I invariably switched off from GW instead of making it my time - not a guilty pleasure but pure pleasure and proud to say so. Welcome back Monty and team. Can't wait!!
I think it is a sin wot the BBc have done as I love Toby, Joe and Alys. I can not say wot I think of monty dum but i dont like him on gw and wont watch. You are idiots to put him on agane. he is dull and not so good at knowing about gardens so i will give him a mile.Wish you would put my lot back. You are not to be trussted.
Wonderful, wonderful news. At last a proper adult gardening programme to look forward to on a Friday evening.
Perhaps the BBC would consider giving Toby a gardening programme on childrens' TV to satisfy all his adoring fans that have suddenly crept out from the woodwork. Strange how there was no such adulation when he was actually presenting GW!!
657 -again I say to you that Toby is a properly trained gardener not a failed jeweller who is a c list celeb. The BBC are Ok to pander to you as obviously you are not a proper gardener either.
The wife and I are disgusted that the beeb has taken Toby off. We stopped watching when Monty was on as we both thought him quite daft and he made my wife cringe in horror with his false manners and silly smile. We came back when Toby started, got used to Toby and in the end we liked him as much as Geoff Hamilton. I am fed up with paying my licence fee and being shown second rate presenters so we will not be watching when they put the old bloke back.
Oh dear - what a load of old tosh this blog is becoming!! Do any of you think for one moment that Adam Pascoe or the BBC are going to take any notice whatsoever of what is being written here. It's quite possible (and probable) that the same few people are posting over and over again just under a different screen name:)!!!!!
I have just read in The Garden that Monty is back. Really great news, sorry but I found both Toby and Alys very irritating. I thinks it's a great new line up and am really looking forward to the new series. I also think the BBC does listen as Myself and many friends all complained that the 'new' Gardeners World with Toby at the helm was of poor quality, and they listened - Thank you BBC
Just read the terrible news via the beeb news site. Quite awful that Toby et al are off - well I am off too. Monty is a waffy idiot and it is daft bringing him back. Bye Gardeners world .

Welcome back Monty where you belong.
