I have been put in front of the computer to air my views. I have peeled the sprouts and that is all I am allowed to do. I have been told to stop going on and put on here how cross I am with the BBC for spoiling Gardeners World. I admit I am quite old and grumpy but even so I liked Toby. He spoke well, had buckets of commonsense and my grandchildren have been inspired by him. They would never watch that Monty bloke - even they realised he talked rubbish. I have listened and watched BBC gardening programmes since Fred Streeter was on the wireless on Saturday mornings through to Gardeners World with Toby.Toby is an excellent fellow so why replace him? And why replace him with with a man who has already had his turn. It is rude and retrograde to replace him, a competent gardener, with an opinionated buffoon. I am too old to be bothered by this - I garden my way and will carry on that way. Although I have copied a few of Tobys ideas. What makes me cross is that my grandchildren, with their own gardens need a good TV gardener to inspire them. Monty bloke is fancied by the middleaged women at my village garden club. The rest of us have no regard for his strange ways. I am not your target viewer I am told but my grandchildren deserve better - I had Fred Streeter and Geoffrey Smith - both good blokes. Less said about Percy Thrower the better as I do not like things in rows but I did enjoy it once Toby got the programme. I have decided I will not be watching anymore and I know my grandchildren won't. They are buying me a new greenhouse for Christmas so I will be OK but they will be lost to TV gardening until someone puts Toby back.
Monty coming back... best Christmas present i have had.will miss alys though.she would be much better than the photogenic rachael who is only there to look pretty.
Fancy letting that bloke back - never liked him on GW in the first place. Even my wife gave up as she thought he was silly. Hope Toby gets a great job somewhere else he deserves it . He's a real gardener.
Backwards step in my opion, Monty has had his turn. Good luck Toby and Alys, I'm sure you'll both be back. Alys ( who I think is fantastic ) should have her own show!
First the snow, then the long ice attack and now my garden will be without expert advice from Toby and Alys. Monty is useless and all I want is Greenacres and the experts that were there. Come on BBC get it put back properly.
i have nothing against Monty Don But I firmly believe that a program such as GW should look forward not back. there are many others equally qualified to take on the role. It will not be a fresh start but more of the same from years ago.very disappointed !!
Missed this terrible news as I was busy - a seasonal thing. It is absolutely ghastly to bring back Monty when Toby and Alys were just such a joy to watch. They cheered me up no end and always made me think of something to do in my garden. Monty only inspired me to turn off my TV. Why bring such misery by spoiling a good programme?

He's had his day - and he was awful.
Toby and the 'new' team were streets ahead of Monty Don in every possible way.
Get him off, and bring the experts back to replace an annoying, condescending amateur.
