  • I am so upset that Monty is back -it ruins my Friday night with my Dad for sure.
Monty was a costume jeweller too - not exactly a dedicated gardener like Toby.
We will not be watching as dad can't stand him and i would prefer to learn from my Dad - and Toby if only they would put him back.
  • Hooray! We are thrilled to hear Monty is coming back to Gardeners World. We had stopped watching GW shortly after Monty left as without his amazing presentation and unpatronising practical advice, for us novice gardeners, it was really no longer providing us the information we need in a way we enjoyed. All is forgiven BBC!
  • AAAAAAAAAAAARGH!!!! Can't abide the dreadful Monty - smug, patronising, synthetic smile, bad, bad ,bad advice and no qualifications in the subject what so ever. Bring back the bright and lovely Toby.Monty has the presentation skills of a well oiled mackerel and is so smarmy.Toby is a gem and should never have been pushed off to give the post to monty.Bad and unforgivable move bbc.I deserve a rebate on my licence fee for such cavalier behaviour by your GW team.
Hope the show is a mammoth flop. Macbeth to you all on every show.
  • Im glad Monty is well, but I'm so sad and angry that Toby has to go,one would like to think that the BBC would give Toby his own show at Greenacres in the afternoons, that would be great, and where is Toby in the Gardeners World mag.? has he been given the heavehoe there too,all you read there is Monty this and Monty that,if I had known I would not have taken out a subscription, pity there wasn't a vote let the veiwers decide who they want to watch and who they want to read
  • Just as I was building up my confidence and my fingers were turning a lovely shade of green!! Alys has inspired me and now I feel rather lost. Why have you done this BBC??? Nothing personal to Monty and the others but Alys will be truely missed. Thank goodness for her books and newspaper articles.
  • Please not Rachel de Thames she's so dull and clearly doesn't have a clue Please can we have either Toby or Alys instead of her
  • Just realised that Toby is no longer on Gardeners world. Really dissapointed! I personally would prefer Toby to Carol on the show.
  • I watched Monty with my Mum and she reckoned he was rubbish. I loved Toby and was really pleased to try some of his stuff in my own new garden when I moved last year.
Alys was good too but I will really miss Toby. I hope he will be on again soon as I will not have a garden programme to watch now. Rubbish move BBC.
  • Oh dear the comments do say it all.
After Geoff Hamilton there's only Alan Titchmarsh left standing to front Gardeners World, for me any way.
Toby did a sterling job,Alys was wonderfully quirky,Joe Swift is unfortunately forgettable,Rachel De-Thame has presence but just doesn't somehow make it happen. Carol Klein is so watchable and inspiring, i absolutely love her.Chris Beardshaw, aka The Flying Gardener,is an excellent presenter,i love his gardening style & he's inspiring too,Monty-well he just does not push the right buttons does he? I find it hard to even read his articles and just will not be watching Gardeners World i'm afraid while he fronts it.That sounds awful i know, but it's just the way he makes me feel. Watching him feels like a difficult maths lesson at school-hard work & uninspiring,i do try but either fall asleep or lose interest. He preaches or talks at you somehow,i don't know what it is. Alan always inspires & enthuses and it just works with him-he definitely wears The Crown.
I agree with a previous comment that we, the viewing public, should get to vote for who we want to front G.World.
  • Please not Monty it will all be about vegetables, fruit cages and potatoes again and again and the odd plant/shrub thrown in as after-thoughts. It needs to be a balanced gardening programme but it isnt with Monty, its all about what hes interested in somehow. He's hard work to watch and boring-sorry but he is. Carol Klein should be given a chance to present gardeners world i reckon. I always want to go into my garden after watching her and try out her planting ideas in my garden shes amazing in the same way that Mr T is.
