Just one other thing...funny that the BBC iplayer has deleted ALL the last seasons GW with Toby on it....its my money they are playing with, please out it back on. Thanks
What an utter waste of money by the BBC to spend so much on Greenacre and then just ditch it in favour of bringing the hopeless and unwatchable Monty Don back.
Geoff Hamilton started off unpopular - but went on to become one of the best-loved GW presenters ever. Toby Buckland should have been given more time - another season or two and he's have been every bit as popular as Geoff.
Monty Don hasn't a clue about gardening, and he's being brought back no doubt because of his connections with the BBC. It's wrong, it's a bad move, and he's the wrong man for the job. I shall not be continuing to watch GW - but if Toby and Co appear on an alternative gardening programme on Channel 4 or wherever I'll happily watch that.
Thank you Toby, Alys and the team - you were the best thing to happen to GW for years. You knew what you were talking about, and you passed that knowledge on. Now we're stuck with boring, useless Monty Don again. Thanks BBC.
Thank God common sense has prevailed at last. What took BBC so long? Toby is soooo patronising and as for Alys....what a metroic rise from no where, she is so anally retentive..BOY. You have ALOT to answer for Gill(producer)for robbing us of a REAL garden situation. Friday evenings are going to be warm from now on with Monty. Toby and Alys had no warmth and treated us like two year olds.
I am thrilled at the return of Monty, it has not been the same since his presenting Gardners World. My daughter and I look forward to the spring watching avididly We have missed you Monty, welcombe back.
Monty Don is just a joke. He's about as good for GW as Julian Clarey would be to present the Today Programme on Radio 4.
More dumbing down by the BBC. When do we get a proper gardening programme back, presented by people who know about gardening, rather than no-hopers like Monty Don?
I have no doubts about Toby's qualifications and knowledge as a gardener but his TV presentation skills are close to zero. Since he and Alys took on GW it had become a mix of the dull and the twee. No wonder audience figures have gone down so much
I'm so sorry that Toby has been relieved of his post. We felt strongly that the production team let him down badly in the first year, and only gradually has he had the opportunity to show what he is capable of - and as as experienced gardener (in small gardens) I found I almost always found some nugget of new information once he found his feet. I too have liked Monty in the past, but think this is definitely a retrograde step.

Thanks

In a recent program Monty Don mentioned "Bio Char" is it possible to buy this product or make it at home .
