Big Mistake, I really enjoyed Toby and I will not continue to watch this show in support of toby. BBC you've done it again you viewers are going to drop. I will hope Toby will get snapped up by another gardening show so I can continue to learn from his ideas.
I'll really miss Toby!!! He was so nice and personable, full of knowledge, and i love his down to earth approach.
My dad has always been a keen gardener, and I used to watch the show as a child with Geoff Hamilton. Now I've left home and have my own little garden I've been watching the show with renewed enthusiasm. I'm a twenty-something gardener and I need Toby's basics! But even my dad who's in his 60's and been gardening seriously all his life with his father and grandfather, is a big fan of Toby's style (and Alys too). There's always something new, you didn't know in gardening (post #451- you're right! and i like your 4x15 mins idea)
I'm keeping my fingers crossed Toby and Alys gets they're own show doing something similar!
Great news that Monty is back but sorry for Toby & Alice, not their fault that the BBC messed about with the format so much. I never understood why they left Berryfields but hope we still see Greenacres from time to time. Personally I always thought that when Monty left the programme that Carol was the obvious replacement & have felt that she was getting pushed out more & more. Now maybe we will get back to the type of gardening programme we all want to see & enjoy!!!!!
Thank goodness Monty is returning but Carol Klein should have been Alan Titchmarsh's replacement as she is such a wonderful communicator.I am sorry there is no place for Alice though. Hopefully, Gardeners World will regain its status now as the information hub of REAL gardeners who do not need to be talked to as if they have never picked up a spade!
Brilliant news, can't wait. Friday nights just haven't been the same. The program somehow lost its sparkle since Toby took the realm. I am sure that he is a great gardener and will be missed, but the show just lost something, that personal touch you get when it is someones elses garden. Monty is a very hands on passionate gardener. Welcome back Monty.
Please could the newly created gardens since the departure of MD be followed in the new series? I am sad about the departure of Alys and Toby. Alys is brilliant at conveying enthusiasm for herbs, fruit, edibles. I thought Toby would develop with age along with the garden and we would follow it for years. In twenty years time - imagine- MD at the helm , Alys with greying streaked hair and wild winged 50s glasses and Toby with a comb-over (after a failed hair transplant) show a mature garden. Under a grafted apple tree (with 300 varieties) lies a tombstone with the inscription..'Here Lieth the half-hour garden challenge'. That's the only bit I won't miss. I am otherwise sad for the lovely presenters.
Love Monty, and Rachel but why is Toby leaving, and Alys?????? What is to happen to the garden that Toby has been working on? Sad for Toby. Very sorry to hear this, he reminded me so much of Geoff Hamilton who was my hero.
Can't wait, a Monty Don, dysfunctional Joe Swift, gravelly Carol Kline and sexy Rachael..it's going to be a great laugh and will hopefully distract viewers from what has become a rubbish program...
