  • Great news and welcome back Monty! So glad you're better, it just wasn't the same without you. I did grow to like Toby and am sure he has a future in presenting, now that he's found his feet. However, the slot is Monty's and we here in Kildare are thrilled with the news!
  • Wonderful news about changes to Gardeners World next year. After the disasterous way the programme was dumbed down following Monty's retirement due to ill health, there was little in the way of interest or information for the keen gardener apart from Carol Klein who is always superb. Can't wait for the tour of Monty's own plot and to have him impart his hands on knowledge and passion for gardening.
  • Sorry Monty but I prefer Toby Buckland's
    more laid back style.
  • super monty is back a really big shame about alys i loved her little garden, i can hardly wait to see the new format.
  • Brilliant news that Monty is returning to Gardeners World - we have also missed our weekly meetings with Monty. We look forward to visiting his garden in 2011. Thank you.
  • I am so disapointed, Ive been an avid watcher of Gardeners World since I had my first garden in the days of Geof Hamilton, the only presenter I never enjoyed watching was Monty. I found him condescending and boring. The fresh new line-up with Toby at the helm was excellent, I have enjoyed watching Greenacre develop from a field and am sure it has given lots of novice gardeners the confidence to tackle their own patches, Toby and Alys should defect to another channel! Gardeners World will now only be worth watching for Carole and Joe.

  • I can't wait! All my favourite presenters and from Monty's delicious garden.
  • Great news. I lasted 2 programmes after Monty went and then switched off, I thought for good. Monty is inspirational and passionate. Only sorry that positive changes weren't extended to the rest of the presenters. I would have prefered to keep Alys and say goodbye to Joe and Carol, and bring in someone like Chris Beardshaw. Not enthralled by Rachel's return.

One permanent change I'm making is not to renew my BBC GW magazine subscription. The dumbing down here is complete, and even an occasional article by Monty won't change that.
  • I am so pleased to see Monty is to be back on our screens but I shall miss Toby and Alys. I enjoyed the banter they had, I loved Toby's enthusiasm and Alys's quirkiness. I feel that Toby has been made a scapegoat. The format of the programme was not his fault. I hope that this will not be the last we see of them on our screens. I especially enjoyed Alys's own vegetable growing programme.I see Rachel de Thame's return as unnecessary.
Welcome back Monty, I shall look forward to seeing you again but it will be tinged with a sense of unfairness.
  • Hurray, great news. I just love Monty and Joe and Carol too! And a visit to Monty's garden is something I would love to do in person, so the screen will be the next besst thing. I find them all inspiring to try experiments. And Rachel has great ideas too. Will miss Alys.
Well done and can't wait for March 2011.
