I'm DELIGHTED Monty Don is returning to GW, I've been a regular viewer since Geoff Hamilton, but I really lost interest with the last series which I felt was amateur and like watching Blue Peter. Monty is the perfect way to start the weekend, his passion is inspring, can't wait and all from his own garden,BRILLANT really happy.
I am FURIOUS that Monty DUM ( brilliant name from elsewhere on blog) is back to wreck GW. the BBC have to be mad to flaunt this aged idiot to gardeners. BRING BACK TOBY. Failing that give us a programme with Toby on. I have no desire to watch creepy Monty in his stupid cords. Even my Mum doesn't fancy him. It is clear from this blog that he is an old womens darling. He does not inspire any of us at college and we are studying gardening. The mock vomiting that went on when we heard was the only funny thing about it. The lecturers were not pleased either and the comments from the techs were unprintable. Real gardeners have no respect for him.
stopped subscribing to the magazine as a protest.Beechgrove all is forgiven.I,d like to see the beeb trying to change Jim McColl a gardeners gardener Monty Don TAKE NOTE
Yuck, yuk or yok it is all bad. Why get rid of someone good,Toby, and return to dumb nostalgia. I want a garden programme not a dull watch of a dull garden. You should have left a good thing alone as Toby and Alys were great. Still we can't rely on the BBC anymore. They no longer behave decently.
Ooooh no I am no way ever watching again if Toby has gone and Alys too as they were lovely. That monty is just awful and can be said to be beige in every way.
Brilliant. We love you Monty. Can't wait to see your garden and to get some real good practical tips for growing. Thanks for the inspiration you have given us through your books and your real down to earth approach to gardening.
New gardening programme? Friday evenings? Alys & Toby? C4 (not ITV - remember 'Daybreak') That would be interesting. Viewing figures would confirm strength of feeling one way or another, but who cares about that! Alys was a breath of fresh air to GW - young, intelligent & deeply knowledgeable rather than just eye-candy or token woman on the team, and has completely rejuvenated my interest in gardening. She doesn't just tell it, she lives it. It would be great to see her back doing TV along the lines of Edible Garden. For the time being there are still her excellent books.
