  • Well...everyone has their favourites but I for one will welcome the return of Monty.
Toby,Alice,Carol and Joe have been excellent in their time with the programme but I felt Monty had to go before he was really established due to his ill health so it will be nice to see his return and a new series.
I too prefer a more down to earth approach and wonder if Rachel will achieve this but hey!!lets give them all a go before we condemn them.Carol is brilliant,so knowledgable and not the least patronising in her approach,Joe...well he's just Joe and none the worse for that, his allotment antics were very entertaining and just to round things off may I say
GOOD BYE and GOOD LUCK to Toby and Alys in their next endeavours.
    WELCOME BACK Monty.
  • What a poor decision to ditch TB and AF. My wife and I have been watching since Percy's time!
In TB and A F we had two who knew their onions. Now with M D and R de T we have Bling + Blong. At least Knightsbridge will be happy.
No- I will not be watching regularly.
  • Will be nice to see Monty again but will miss the hands on and casual style of Toby. What will happen to Greenacre? Will we ever see that garden develop?
  • Guttered, will miss Toby & Alys very much. And what will happen to Greenacre? Are we not to see it mature?

    Will not be watching Monty........
  • BORING!
  • Thank goodness for that! Gardener's World just hasn't been the same since he left. The absolute dream team would be. Monty Don, Chris Beardshaw and Sarah Raven. At least we've got one of the three! Welcome back Monty, you've been much missed!
  • So the "devine Monty" is coming back. I hope he and the BBC read all these comments. We want plenty on other stuff than veg. We want some presentations of calibre. Toby Buckland has far more experience of the theory of gardening. Sorry to see Alys go as well. I agree we should have her as a visitor sometimes or maybe as has been suggested we should have more than one programme a week. And we must see Greenacres develop please?
  • I am disappointed that Toby is being cast at one side. When Don left I wanted Carol to front the programme and I didn't think that Toby would be an improvement, but I persevered and I found him to be practical, informative and very friendly. The people who say they stopped watching can't in all honesty comment as to whether Toby was good or not. I have watched every programme, but I am seriously considering not watching it when Monty returns and as for bringing Rachel back, well that is enough to make me definitely decide not to bother with the programme in the future. What a waste of license payers money to stop using Greenacres, after all the time, effort and money that has been spent on it. I am disgusted with the BBC and I think that bringing Monty and Rachel back is a definite step backwards.
  • I used to be a great fan of Monty Don - still am - but I've grown to appreciate Toby's relaxed, laid-back style and I prefer the excitable Monty when he's doing things like his wonderful Round the World series.

As for Rachel, well she's very pretty, but so are a million girls on TV; Alys gives the impression of being a real gardener.

So I can't say I'm totally chuffed about the change.
  • Thank goodness! I shall watch and enjoy like I used to. Well done GW.
