Apologies @didyw and @Lizzie27. Didyw's post was just after Lizzie's, got confused. I understand if they don't flower.

I hope the hospital manages to sort out your younger brother, Lizzie, despite their workload.

Thanks @Busy-Lizzie. Waiting for an update from SIL this afternoon.Ā
No apologies needed, I realised what you'd meant, easily done with so many posters.
Your Garden club talk sounded really interesting. Never managed to get to Bressingham Gardens but always wanted to.

Really pleased with these tin pots which have just been delivered. 10 in different colours with aĀ  drainage hole so I can hook some on a trellis by my potting table to hold sundries - or even small plants. Might even plant strawberries!
A silly price and free p and p as well but I'm annoyed I didn't check country of origin before hitting buy.

Everything I can think of, @AuntyRach

Could you go for a reset with absolutely no naps in the day?? I expect you’ve tried sleep podcasts but I swear by them (You’ll be swearing if they don’t help though). Some are meditation-based (no good if your mind wanders), some are stories (helps stop mind wander), and others are just background talking etc. I’m quite picky with the narrator’s voice as if they are harsh, shrilling, or have a distracting (usually American) accent, I can’t relax.Ā

Thanks for the book suggestion @punkdoc. I’ve just reserved it through our online library. I’ve been struggling to find stuff to read recently. Our on line library has moved to a new system which I am still struggling to get used to. My big gripe is that proper science fiction, which I love, is all mixed in with fantasy and horror, which I find a waste of time. Very tiresome.Ā

Had a good day today, despite the dismal damp weather. Went to a talk by a Samaritan this morning, far more interesting than I was expecting. One success story was about the local mainline station, where the railway company have made substantial financial support to the Samaritans to provide posters and easy contact details prominently displayed in the station, plus training for personnel working on the platforms. It has produced a substantial and measurable reduction in suicides, which is a great result.

This afternoon, we had our annual dental check ups and both came away with a clean bill of health for another twelve months. All for the princely sum of Ā£25 each, as we are extremely fortunate to still be registered with an NHS dentist. Don’t know how long she will be able to keep that up, given that she has to pay her nurse and receptionist, rates, mortgage etc, before she can even start drawing her own salary. Anyway, we are very grateful, - especially OH who hates anything medical, so is delighted to have a year off!

Didnt have pancakes after all yesterday- mainly as I had made them for breakfast at the weekend. I’m now wondering whether to try giving up alcohol for Lent, or if that would be too much of a shock to my system! I’d give myself an exemption for my birthday in March!

  • Good morning everyone,

Been AWOL again, although I have managed to read most posts, just run out of time to write.Ā
Such a hectic week with a Valentine's soirée, and a Singles night we're hosting on Friday and one of my key staff on holiday. All good though.

I've managed to see my new chap briefly most days, we meet for coffee at a bar on my way to work, although Wednesday's I have an early delivery so it's not possible. He brought all his children to lunch yesterday at CdeG, I wasn't able to spend too much time with them, but I joined them for dessert and coffee, they are all lovely and very keen to check me out, they're a very close family so I was a bit worried, but he said afterwards they all thought I was adorable. He has three grown up children from his 1st marriage and a 14 year old from a second relationship. He also arrived with a beautiful bouquet of roses, I was astonished, so lovely. I really enjoyed the banter between all of them, and surprisingly I managed to follow and even join in, they made me feel very welcome and very relaxed.Ā

Tonight, I'm cooking a belated valentine's dinner, very simple, chateaubriand with salad, and he's bringing champagne, all terribly romantic, I can't honestly remember the last time I had a romantic dinner for two. Hoping I don't fall asleep, it's been such a hectic week. šŸ˜…

I've also agreed ( why šŸ¤”) to be co-ordinator for a walking group, we go on our first hike next Wednesday, so far 14 have signed up. I've no idea how I'll squeeze all the planning in, but I did need something to motivate me to get out more, weather is getting better too, so it should be good.Ā

Right, car in for its first ever MOT today, fingers crossed and then cake baking all day, getting ahead for being away skiing next week.Ā

Have a good day all. 😘😘😘

    Good morning folks!

Grey and dismal here and I have picked up a sniffly cold.

All digging done and a trip to the tip finally today. Ā A bit of a rest and respite day for me.
I am to pop in to see my 89 yr old father-in-law who is also on the decline. Ā He is a widower now and should be on a no-salt diet but he does tend to take short cuts when it comes to food and now has water retention. Ā
    Ā  Ā  Ā
I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers yesterday from my lovely friend in Montpellier and am pleased to read that things are progressing nicely for you @D0rdogne_Damsel

I also have read "Demon Copperhead" @punkdoc Ā Brillant writing if not a little forlorn as you say.

Ā I am sorry to hear about your brother @Lizzie27 Ā and I hope your Dad is comfortable @AuntyRach

A la Saint Claude, regarde ton seau. Ā Tu ne le verras pas plus haut!

Stay safe, stay warm everyone. Ā
