Good morning Debs, Ruby and Biglad. I've cancelled the village trip as I received an email to say an expected parcel is being delivered - before 18:00 today. Nothing spoiling if I leave my village trip until tomorrow.
Debs, that sounds to me as if the hierarchy are trying to convince THEMSELVES that all will be 'exciting'! What rubbish!
Ruby after all your planting yesterday I hope you will take things a bit easier today
@Biglad, I do have to tell you that the word 'bad' now superseded by the word 'sick' has been used by the youngsters for quite a while now to mean 'good'.

@Biglad I think we might feel better if head office just acknowledged how upset we all are and how much more difficult our job will be instead of pretending they have done all this as a treat for us. They are fooling nobody and treating us like idiots. I have been very lucky working with a lovely team of warm friendly people for 9 years and I will miss them. We would all appreciate acknowledgment of the real situation.Β
I'm guessing 'sick' is on the way out as well @Ladybird4. By the time the old fuddy-duddies (like us!) responsible for updating dictionaries get round to including the 'new' counterintuitive definitions, the yoof will have hijacked another perfectly good (or should that be bad/sick) word and imposed an opposite meaning onto it.
OH's car passed its MOT. Changing gear hurt my back so I came back home and OH took a bit longer and came back with some Nurofen. I hope I'm better for the long drive down France next week. OH can drive my car in France but not in the UK. Daft rules.
We are sailing back to France on a night ferry next week. We were going to stay a couple of nights with good friends who moved from Norfolk to Wiltshire before leaving. My friend rang last night to say they can't see us after all as they are going to London for her nephew's funeral. Her nephew is Tom Kingston who was married to Lady Ella Windsor. It was in the News. So tragic, 45, they think it's suicide but my friend says he was a cheerful man.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
@Biglad, I'm sure you are right. I think youngsters just do this re-use of recognised words to mean the complete opposite to stop us older folk from knowing what they are talking about.
Busy I am so sorry to hear that sad news from your friends. I really hope that you can get some ease for your back - as you say, you have some long driving ahead of you. I may have told you before but my car has front seats that can be turned on to massage you when you drive. Once I got used to it I found that there were times when it was a Godsend. What day do you travel on?
I guess T'Bird and her OH will be on their way (or may even have arrived) to Buenos Aires.

Good morning one and all. I am expecting a delivery of plug plants today so will need to get into the village first thing. Budget Day today and already I'm tired of the speculation that has been going on all week so far on TV. Just want the bottom line. I certainly will not be watching it all unfold.
