Bit worrying, LB not being here. Hope she's OK.

Glad you got home safely @Topbird. Doesn't prawn cocktail have fattening sauce on it though? It's still one of my favourites. I suppose you could have fruit salad for pud.

My friend was in stop/start traffic on the M1. Hasn't arrived yet.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Love prawn cocktail- have  it at Christmas whether it’s fattening or not😂😂
Glad you ( eventually) got back home Topbird. Hope you have an enjoyable evening.
Busy, hope your friend arrives before too much longer. Getting dark now.

Miss Whiplash is my favourite little GIF SGL😁

be very happy to have steak for main and Black Forest Gateau for afters. We're actually having Chilli Eggs - one of OH's staple dishes - no meat and lots of veggies.

Don't worry about the cocktail sauce BL - as I said it's going in a separate dish for people to have no, a little or a lot as they choose.
I offered to make a fruit cocktail but, of course, fruit cocktail contains its own sugars and the fruits on offer at the moment tend to be the sweeter ones (pineapple etc). I'm not a pear and apple person. I like lots of berries and currants in a fruit cocktail  and they are definitely not at their best just now.

... and I'd want cream and / or meringue with it (!) so opted to do a starter instead.

    😂😂🤭  @Topbird
I remember Miss Whiplash making appearances  a few times years ago when Brumble etc used post. 😉
Cream, meringue and fresh berries are delicious,  my kind of pudding 😋😋
Hope your friend arrives soon @Busy-Lizzie

Good evening all. Apologies for my absence but I have had a mare of a day and seeing it unfurl is nothing short of a farce.
01:04 Message from pharmacist. Re my blood test of yesterday my potassium levels were high and I needed to get to the hospital immediately for further tests and/or treatment as these levels can be problematic causing all sorts of nasty symptoms. Did I have anyone who could drive me down. Yeah right at that time in the morning. He said he would organise an ambulance for me but it could be 3-4 hours in arriving. I waited until 08:20 and then went on the bus leaving a clear sign on the front door for when/if the ambulance arrived.
09:05 arrived at hospital, was triaged, bloods taken and a canula left in my arm in case they had to treat me.
Doc (20 if he was a day) asked good questions and listened to my chest. Said in his opinion I seemed fine. He then asked if yesterday's blood test had been done early in the morning - which it had been. Then a light bulb moment. He observed that Surgeries tend to just gather all their blood tests up and send them off in bulk at the end of the day. During those hours blood hydrolyses and potassium is released.
Several hours passed as I waited for the results. Eventually when the decks were cleared of poorly people and one hilarious but horrid drunk who had been brought in by two policemen (who had probably been in the same class at school as the Doc!) I managed to ask one of the nurses how long it usually took for blood test results. Turns out I was in the wrong waiting room (where I had been told to go) and was re-directed to the correct one where another young person found my name but my results had been removed from the system because they were normal and 'Discharged' had been written next to my name. They were hugely apologetic, Docs thinking that the nurses had told me the good news and vice versa. I could have been home and warm with Cricket this morning instead of halfway through the afternoon. I am seriously unimpressed with the pharmacist who rang me at the unearthly hour in the morning and made me very concerned about my health.
In a nutshell a day I won't get back (not that I'd want to) again.
One moral of the story is:- if you are going for a blood test go as late as possible in the afternoon to avoid fake readings.
Busy, I hope that you have a lovely time with your school buddy. Ante, I could come and be the foreman - ready to make brews whenever needed. I'm a bit short for decorating!
Debs it was frosty here this morning and whilst waiting for the return bus this afternoon I was chilled to the marrow.
T'Bird, I love prawn cocktail. Dad used to make a delicious Thousand Island Dressing with salad cream, tomato ketchup and Tabasco sauce and now and again he would add finely chopped capers.
p.s. I should have added Dad's sauce was his alternative to a Marie Rose sauce.

Oh my goodness LB! What a horrible, horrible day for you. I’ve never heard of a pharmacist ringing up at that ungodly hour of the morning. You must have been frantic.
    This is just for you……

Try and relax now LB, and when you go to bed tonight, turn your phone off( if call came through on the mobile, that is). It really has highlighted how the left hand doesn’t know what the right hand is doing in the NHS now. Dreadful state of affairs.
Well, I am pleased to see you and glad that you are alright. Unscrew the wine……..
