Hello Ruby and Hazel. I thought I might learn something from Snoopy, Ruby
Hazel, don't give up on your Christmas (allowed!!!!) cactus. It is a known fact that they will drop their buds if moved and/or placed in a different position/environment, also moisture stress can do this so do persist with your cactus and next year when it is settled you should get the display that you are after.

Have cut down ornamental grasses today as we are going to the local recycling centre with a lot of green waste.,Our council collections don’t start up again until March. It was blowing a gale outside still.
Have finished my Flutterby baby blanket, it’s so lovely if I do say so myself😊
LB, have relegated the Xmas cactus to the little bedroom for its last chance😳

I am going to go and get my brain in gear for quiz night so I'm signing out for now and hoping you all have pleasant evenings. It has been a funny sort of a day today. See you all in the morning.

Hope you have an enjoyable evening LB. Let’s hope for a more “ normal “ day for you tomorrow.
Very quiet on here these days.

    Evening all.

Been a busy few days getting household chores seen to and taking advantage of the mild spell to do some gardening. We haven't had any rain for about 10 days now so the soil is now dry enough to withstand a bit of trampling and digging. Just 4 more roses to prune and that's another job ticked off. If I can empty one compost bin and mulch my 'G&T border' (it's where I sit on a summer evening) before we go away I'll be pleased.

It was too windy today to entice me out but the washing actually dried outside. Needed an extra peg per garment to hold things on the line!

Glad you enjoyed your night out LB - I do enjoy a bit of Northern Soul. Very bop-to-able.

OH just told me that Ian Lavender (Private Pike, Dad's Army) has died. He & his wife lived in the next village and we've often seen them in the shops or at village events. Always seemed a quiet, rather nice man. Bit sad - he wasn't that old by today's standards (77).

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

My phone doesn't seem to have sent this morning's post.

We went to the local town and OH had photos done for his French visa. I went to the haberdasher and bought poppas for my gardening anorak. It had velcro which is useless.

I pruned Ghislaine de Féligonde and Penelope that I'm growing as a short climber this afternoon and did a bit more tidying. The garden bin is almost full, will be emptied on Friday.

Chap came round to look at the garden path that needs replacing. It's rather homemade and made of bricks and pavers which are crumbling after frosts.

I've just heard that King Charles has cancer, I hope he will be OK.

    Good evening all.

I had a busy weekend, and today after school I was in GC and in warehouse with building material. My friend will start tomorrow morning with laying tiles, and I'll help him after school. Hope it will all be finished this week. I worked in my garden last two day, and caught a cold. It was lovely warm in the sun (short sleeves), but it's still February and I should be more careful. I'm going to make hot chocolate and watch tv.

Topbird, nice to see you and good to hear you’re nearly there with rose pruning. A few mild days makes such a difference at this time of year. Hope you get your mulching done. How much longer before your long holiday break.?
Busy, did your OH get his photo done for a visa to visit France? Sorry, I do know you mentioned it but the reason has slipped my mind. My OH told me earlier on about the King although not what type it was?  Not sure, will have to watch news tonight. I, too, hope he will be  ok. You've been busy in the garden too, nice to get outside.
Ante, my goodness you have been busy too. Good to have a friends help with the patio project though but sorry to hear you’ve come down with a cold now. These mild days are deceiving and it’s easy to forget we are still in winter sometimes and don’t wrap up accordingly.  Hope it passes soon for you. Honey and linctus cough medicine is very soothing and eases itchy/sore throats.
