Evening all. Had a trip down to another part of the city this morning and visited the restored remains of a church bombed in the war and the Coventry Cathedral style replacement. There was a cross of nails from Coventry and a beautiful charcoal Madonna sketch by a Russian soldier. Both given as symbols of peace and reconciliation. I found it all rather beautiful and deeply moving.

The sauna was good and the Asian food in the restaurant excellent. Didn't much enjoy the walk back through the park to the station at 9.30pm. It is still quite cold and we had to pass what looked like the local homeless shelter. Large crowd of noisy men, some drunk, hanging about waiting for the doors to open. Nothing untoward happened but I was glad there was two of us!

We've had haggis a couple of times and I quite enjoy the deep savoury taste. But on both occasions  it gave both of us rather bubbly insides 🤭 so might not bother again...

SGL and Rubee - look after yourselves you two. Spring is nearly upon us and the dark, dark nights are slowly retreating. Always uplifting when you can prepare dinner in the daylight!

Sounds like a good day Topbird but the journey home not so good. Good to hear all was well though. The visit to the church sounds to have been very poignant. I hope the like never happens again.
LB, good to hear the cold has gone and hope the cough eases soon.
Im signing off for now. Night all.

A very good morning all and guten morgen T'Bird and OH.
T'Bird, I would have found that church visit very moving too. Apparently the first cross of nails was formed from 3, of many, mediaeval nails that were found by the stonemason in the rubble after Coventry Cathedral was bombed and eventually the organisation known as the Community of the Cross of Nails was founded. Hundreds of these crosses have been handed out since then as a symbol of hope and friendship and the Archbishop of Canterbury wears the original one every day. It is a tragedy, in this day and age, that so many people are homeless.

    Morning everyone,
Had a slightly better nights sleep, but still took ages to nod off.
    Thank you @Songbird-2 @Busy-Lizzie and @Topbird
Apologies to @Biglad that was suppose to read So sorry for the lose of your friend.
The word sorry seems to have disappeared.
Had a nice afternoon with friends. We went to a garden centre for tea and cake. I wasn't going to buy any plants, but there were some good offers. Got a Potentilla....Abbots Wood, a Verburnum...Eve Price, Sarcocca....Confusa which were £10 each or 3 for  £15  Also got a beautiful Hellebore reduced to £5 it's very healthy and quite big.
Will put them in pots for now, over the weekend. Then later when the ground isn't so wet and cold I'll find a permanent place for them.
@Rubee hope you're feeling more like you this morning. How is your OH & Rosie. Very best wishes to you all.
Sorry to read you've felt poorly @Ladybird4 but glad you're feeling better now.
@Topbird enjoy your holiday, glad you had an enjoyable day. Although the walk back wasn't so good, take care.
Going to the SM this morning and then this afternoon going to a friends.
My friends are being so kind and understanding. Still having very bad days. Miss my OH so very very much.
Supposed to be sunny today, although at the moment it looks very grey and breezy.
Have a good day everyone, take care.

Good morning SGL. What a wonderful lot of plants you bought at the GC yesterday. Such beautiful plants too. My Sarcococca is already filling the air with its perfume as the flowers open and being close to the back door I can really appreciate the scent.
It will be understandably difficult for you SGL and even if in some tiny way we can help then never be afraid to offload on us.

    Morning all,

BINWATCH FINAL UPDATE: No.96 swapped bins in the nick of time! As guessed, they did collect the garden waste yesterday, so I've got an empty bin but no collection until March.

Breezy again in the early hours so I was serenaded by the whack of the sidegate against wheelie bin next door. Lovely!

Good morning all. Got 2nd son and his new Brazilian girlfriend here for tea later so fiancé is cooking something special. Feel rather nervous hope she likes us!
Youngest son here last night he has a new job, a salaried position with the NHS, my little boy is growing up!
@star gaze lily you are doing so well, seeing friends and planning garden stuff and taking a little joy in the small things, my heart goes out to you coping with such a tragic loss and I admire you tremendously for doing it with such grace.
Take care everyone, Spring is on the way!

Thank you @Ladybird4 I think of you all as my friends too.
@debs64 Aww, that's such lovely things to say, so very kind. I don't feel I'm coping that well, but put on a brave face most of the time, while feeling completely broken inside. Your kind words made me cry....but in a good way. x
I'm sure your sons girlfriend will like you very much. You have a very kind heart. And with your fiance making her a delicious welcome meal too. 😋

    Morning all.

@star gaze lily I echo what @debs64 said. It's so hard, especially in the early days. I'm glad you are still caring for your garden. I'm afraid I let mine go for 2 years after 1st OH died. It should have been a comfort for me and it was when I got back to it.

The wardrobe should be delivered for the grandchildrens' bedroom today. I will have a bit of a clearout of our bedroom wardrobe as it's getting overcrowded. The new one isn't really for guests, it's extra space for us.

Also, it looks as though it will be a nice day so I should be able to do some gardening.
