    Thank you for birthday wishes Ante. You will be glad that today is over . The price rise of your potatoes is bad.Good that you got some lovely seeds and canna tubers.I do hope that your cold has gone .

    Happy saturday Good morning happy saturday Happy saturday
    A very good morning one and all.
    Good grief Ante. 100% increase in the cost of your potatoes is extreme. Hopefully you will be able to increase your prices when you harvest your new crops to cover this. How is the finger doing? As Ruby mentioned, I hope your cold has now gone.
    Biglad, at least the September job gives you a decent enough break to get into your (and your sister's) garden this Spring and Summer.

    Good morning LB and all to follow.

    LB, thank you for asking, both, finger and cold, are much better. I don't feel any pain in finger, only have black nail. I'm glad that I even was able to buy everything for planting. This year, amount of all planting materials are very reduced. What are your plans for Saturday.Β

    It's lovely spring morning, raining, but never mind. There is that lovely smell of rain, LB help please, you mentioned this word before, it's starts withΒ p.....Β I'm planning to go to cottage and store potatoes in cold basement. First I'll have a rest whole morning.Β Β

    Hi Ante - the word describing the wonderful smell of rain on dry ground is petrichor.
    I am hoping to get a lot of seeds sown today Ante. My experiment, using Monty Don's suggestion, is to try my saved tomato seeds to see if I get any growing but I also have lots of other new seeds to sow. I think it is exciting starting off plants.

    Morning all (from the CA),

    I could cheerfully not work for the rest of the year @Ladybird4, but I'm tied in to the work cycle of the chap who has recruited me for the last few jobs. If he's recruiting a new team, I feel obliged to say yes just to stay in the good books.Β

    It's a cracking start to the day here. MUST get some outside jobs done this weekend.

    Morning all.

    You start sowing tomatoes early LB. When I grew plants from seed I didn't start until mid March. I had them indoors on a window sill then in the GH on heated mats from April. GH wasn't heated and there could still be frosts. That was in SW France.

    Yesterday afternoon we went to the cinema and saw "Wicked Little Letters" which we enjoyed. Olivia Coleman is a good actress.

    We are going to a monthly village coffee morning. We don't usually go but we are meeting friends there. There will be lots of cake.

    @Busy-Lizzie it’s a good film isn’t it? Very well acted and funny.Β
    Good morning all today for a change we have rain. I have indoor stuff to do but it’s getting tiresome. Fingers crossed that March will improve soon.Β
    Work yesterday was not easy. From Monday onwards we have people on holiday constantly I really don’t want to think about it.Β
