That's what I call a party and a half DD, what a fabulous group of friends you have assembled there. Glad you all had a wonderful time. Charlie looks more grown up every time we see a picture of him.
I didn't want to hijack the whole thread with my news last night, but another excitement of the weekend ( I'm trying to stay positive 🤔) was that when we got back from the restaurant next door on Sunday evening, we walked into a house full of smoke and the chimney breast ablaze 😱 Two fire engines saved the day and no-one was hurt! Kitchen a bit of a state and the smoke damage in my open plan house is horrendous. But we are all just grateful we weren't in bed asleep.

Oh dear, what a shock, @D0rdogne_Damsel. As you say, thankfully you weren’t inside and asleep. Hope your insurance will cover the repairs, maybe a chance for a redesign to your taste while they are at it? Take good care of yourself.
Sorry - didn't mean to offend anyone by suggesting that anyone who was educated in a private school is an elite toff. My OH went to a private school! It's just that it seems so unfair that some children get goodies from Waitrose delivered to them in school, while in other schools teachers have to try and help kids who don't get enough to eat.
Oh my word @D0rdogne_Damsel what a weekend you have had!! Any idea how the fire started? Just back from the SM, a lot of food missing from the shelves due to the blockades.
It's certainly been a birthday weekend to remember!
I think it was a blockage in the flue.... we're waiting for the fire report and the insurance assessor. All insured so hopefully no issues there, they said not to worry yesterday.
Only been here since July and not had chance to do much except essentials, so yes @ergates , I'm hoping to have a freshly painted kitchen and a newer, modern looking chimney breast done. 🤞
It's such a nice day I'm struggling to get motivated to get on with the clean up, I'm sat on the terrace sofa, with supposedly a quick coffee.... The terrace does look a bit like something out of the Beverley Hill Billie's show though. 😅
Thanks for all your kind words. On the way to the airport on Monday afternoon I took my friends around Oradour sur Glane, it had been planned weeks ago. It's a village where a terrible massacre took place during the war. The Germans murdered everyone in the village and then burnt it down. Walking around after our little fire the night before put it all in perspective, so I'm not getting myself stressed about all the mess, we're just very grateful it wasn't a different outcome.

Thank you for all your good wishes and flattering compliments. 😊
Very pleased to hear you're feeling better @punkdoc, ever onwards now.
Hope you get sorted too @coccinella.

Were they the same lovely firemen who had their ‘party’ at your place?
