  • I never get rid of socks until I wear through the heel or toes in any given pair. Even then, I can normally find a use for them somewhere. Insulating the outside tap is one of them. A cloth for cleaning shoes and boots is another. Nothing goes to waste in this household.

I hope the loft is empty when you finally get it open😉

What are you supposed to do with gentle grip socks that don't grip anymore, I have some that just fall down and they're not worn out, do they still sell those leg suspender things that men used to wear years and years ago?   :open_mouth:

That's a point! 😱  Could be  anything up there awaiting discovery.
  • I know that it had a good amount of insulation in, when the surveyor came round.
Or at least, that's what he said, AND he provided photos - assuming they WERE photos of THIS loft!
    Who knows?

@floralies you could thread a couple of rows shirring elastic.

If you are any kind of crafter, as I am, you tend to acquire a lot more stuff!  When I had my craft shop a gentleman brought in a few boxes of card making stuff - paper, dies, stamps, inks etc etc.  His wife had been a keen crafter and he couldn't bear to just throw the stuff away.  I was able to get rid of it through the shop.  But my daughter won't be able to get rid of my jewellery making stuff so easily.  (And stashes of silk flowers, paper, die cutting machine, paper guillotine, fabric, yarn....).  She is urging us to hire a skip...

You could ask the surveyor how he achieved access. 😉
  • I will, if I can't get in there in the next couple of days. My wife says to try and force it, but if I do so, I probably won't be able to close it again, and I don't want all the warmth going up and out. Nor do I want to bash my head every time I exit or enter the kitchen!!🤕

Unlike our previous house, there doesn't seem to be any switch for loft lights - unless that's up there. Of course, maybe it's God's way of telling me not to put anything up there - or even go up the ladder.
