Sounds good @Joyce Goldenlily. My decluttering has come to a bit of a stop as we've been away visiting family. The loft/2nd sitting room/office/ bedroom needs a huge tidy up/declutter next week before the family arrive - tricky as it's mostly my husband's stuff on the floor!
I’ve just started tidying and straightening the guest bedroom ready for visitors. I’ve had to remove at least eight tins of paint which OH had stacked up in there ‘out of the way’. He has at least three floor cupboards, two wall cupboards and three wardrobe height cupboards full of ‘stuff’ in the utility room. Two more cupboards and three tables in the garage, a cupboard in the hall and he took over the cloakroom cupboard as well. Drives me mad, especially when he makes remarks about me leaving one or two items on the dining table. Seems to be blind to his own messes!
Surveyed the attic prior to archaeogical dig I have comforted myself with the fact that everything up there got up there through the hatch so everything must be able to fit back through it for removal How on earth did I accumulate so many table lamps?

A man just like me, @Ergates I like it!! 😁 I got similar remarks about my books today, from a disgruntled wife. Smiling sweetly just doesn't get me out of it anymore!! 😁😁
@Ergates, @Lizzie27 - after the bovver we had sorting and decluttering the attics and spare bedrooms in our last house before moving here I have been ruthless in the guest bedrooms and, apart from some spare seasonal bedding stored under beds, they are empty and ready to go for guests. That said, OH is currently using one to check all our Xmas lights but that's temporary.......
Paints - my province - are stored in the "cave" and need a sort out now. DIY stuff - nearly all mine - is stored there or in the annex depending on size and whether or not it needs leccy to use.
I do have a huge stash of fabrics for making clothes, bags, curtains, patchwork and other projects but they've all been sorted recently and are in their proper place. OH knows to keep his mitts off.
As it's winter, his golf stuff has migrated indoors and is under the stairs or in the annex. Roll on spring - but only after we've enjoyed all the winter festivities and cocooning.

My offering to the Christmas dinner is to make the sauces, stuffings and pud. My son in law and I are also having a competition to see who can make the best baklava so I am working my way through the list. Today I am going to make the baklava, the cranberry, Cumberland and bread sauces are in the freezer. Needless to say, no gardening or decluttering is going on at the moment!
Methinks it's time to put your foot down @Ergates! He needs a big man cave/shed in the garden.
After 52 years, I’ve given up trying to put my foot down! He already has a ‘man cave’ in the second spare bedroom, full of electronics, a fancy soldering iron, and shelves full of boxes of components. He took over the cloakroom off the hall with the excuse that he could keep the parts handy for the DIY jobs currently being worked on, so that he didn’t have to keep trailing downstairs to get things from the garage or utility room. However, as far as I can see, the parts are usually sitting on the kitchen worktop, or a nearby windowsill, often for months at a time! And having scoured the house looking for sandpaper, I suggested he look in the cloakroom. Response was that he’d forgotten he had put stuff in there! Never mind, I can live with it! We did take nearly nine months to replace our kitchen, but that was during lockdown, with delays on getting parts, and we did it in two halves to reduce overall disruption, with a three month break ‘for Christmas’. I’ve been reassuring him that it could have taken over twice as long to have it done ‘professionally’ by one of the big DIY store chains, and have an appalling job done at great expense. No gardening planned till after Christmas. I don’t do much in the way of planting, it’s mainly damage control by pruning and digging stuff out, and I don’t want to fill the green bins too early, no more collections till mid January. Hope you’ve progressed on from mince pies, @punkdoc. You need to build your strength up in case you get a date for your hip. Also hope all the cakes are ready for this afternoon @D0rdogne_Damsel, as you will need time to brush your hair and maybe pop on some makeup before the firefighters arrive. I’m assuming the majority will be male, and maybe there will be an unattached hunk amongst them! I read a recent article about age references for partners for women, the younger women were looking for a partner up to five years older, the older women would prefer a partner up to fifteen years younger! Sounds about right to me!
I'm trying to declutter my freezer at the moment. There's a big bag of frozen grapes and a big bag of breadcrumbs made out of cheesy bread that need to go. Shame they won't go together.

It's filling up with boxes from the garage, and will become my domain in the spring. I will find a comfy chair in the village, and get it installed.
