I used to subscribe to Jacquie Lawson e-cards but it’s gone up so much I don't subscribe anymore. £24.00 a year. I know a lot of work goes into it but…. https://www.jacquielawson.com/advent/edwardian
Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.
Which is why it's probably easier, quicker, and certainly cheaper, to send e-cards. It might even be greener.
It definitely is greener, according to the book How Bad Is A Banana, which is a treasure trove of interesting stuff about the carbon footprints of different things. For example, it is more eco friendly to drive an SUV sized vehicle on a local journey than use a bicycle if the calories you would expend on the latter were ingested either as beef or air-freighted, out-of-season asparagus. 😁
Jacquie Lawson did a lovely Xmas e-card one yr of 3 bears playing handbells.
Took yet another carrier bag of stuff to a different charity shop this morning. I'm now entering the hell that is our loft, part OH's office space, part 2nd living room/spare bedroom.
It's full of stuff, mainly OH's so have to tread warily.
But when we send Christmas cards to more than 70 households (and none are local, having just moved), and then there's birthdays and other special days, £24 a year doesn't seem so much, especially given the cost of postage (particularly overseas). I'll admit that you can't display an e-card, which can spoil the overall effect, when many are used to decorate the place. We only get e-cards from one family household, but a "real" card is sent also.
We find that younger people in the family mostly aren't at all bothered about "real" cards or even e-cards. As our older rellies pass on, we find we're sending fewer and fewer.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
