Try to access your feminine side ( however weedy and undeveloped) and read the instructions before you start. Putting the desk together will be a pleasure
Well, the desk is up, and the computer is working. My wife will be pleased. It means that she can issue invoices for her students.

Admittedly I couldn't use all the screws for the desk. The instructions showed where they should go, but it was impossible to insert them, because fixed metal brackets and drawer fitting prevented it.

    It seems sturdy enough. 🫨

Your wife will probably mention it if the wobble makes her seasick
    In London. Keen but lazy.
  • She's never suffered from seasickness, but there's always a first time!!🙃🥴🤮

Our aborted move was made more complicated by the fact that we are now visiting our son in Australia and it looked as if exchange and completion would take place while we are away. We therefore packed everything up ready for my sister to oversee the move if it did take place in our absence.
Everything has now been unpacked and replaced in their original places and maybe we'll try again after our holiday.
In the meantime here is the view of the native plants we put in Jon's garden when we were here in May, with the flood plain down to the creek beyond the pool. (Water temperature currently 28c. air temperature about 38c.)
  • Gosh, look at that lovely blue sky.  Well jell! 😎

You broken into that loft yet, @rowlandscastle444? 😉
  • I got INTO the loft @ViewAhead
My problem is that I can't close the hatch.
I do have the original installer coming tomorrow (so they say), but if they don't, then I will just have to buy a couple of sliding bolts and fit them myself.

Here's a picture of the external locking/unlocking system, which is tuned by a metal pole being inserted. The catch on the other side is just not, er, catching!!

  • Ah, my parents used to have one with a pole like that.  Tricky if the catch won't catch on the other side.

@rowlandscastle444, ours is exactly the same. When OH closes the loft hatch, he pushes up slightly on the lid to enable the catch on the inside to latch onto whatever it latches on to. Normally  end up turning the pole a full circle until the right place is found. I hope the installer can fix  it for you.
  • Thank you @Songbird-2
    ME too.
I tried your way until I was ready to blow my top! Still no joy!!

I was wondering if a quick squirt of WD4 (other brands available) if you can find it, might help. My answer to all sticky problems.

I cleared 2 shelves of books into a box yesterday. The outside of the house has been pressure washed ready for painting in the Spring and the outside of the conservatory has also been cleaned. I had my suspicions about the box gutter being blocked, which indeed it was. There was a lot of accumulated moss in it plus clumps of grass growing. Now "all" I have to do is clean the inside of the conservatory, a big job, not today though.
