Try not to worry too much @coccinella, I did just the same. Looked at the results of my last blood test on my GP records and found to my horror that several were noted as 'abnormal'! When I calmed down, I reasoned that the medics would have followed those up if need be. That was over 2 months ago and I feel very well. Due another blood test in 10 days time so fingers crossed.
Glad the cars weren't written off @Dovefromabove, hopefully the insurance will cover the cost. Couldn't remember what car you had when OH asked - is it an Alfa Romeo? Shame about the matinee jacket, hope the replacement works out well.
Hello Forkers. Thinking of you all with your various problems. Footage from storm Babette is worrying. I know it sounds unfeeling, but I really wish we could have some rain here. 😒
Useful drugs at bottom of page. Azithromycin is suggested to reduce the severity of the diarrhoea.
Doctors can prescribe drugs "off licence" usually there has to be a discussion and agreement that there may be added risks if not Uk licensed. However Nitazoxanide is FDA approved in USA, so I would try it if I was desperate. The problem may be actually getting hold of the drug.
The tropical diseases unit in London may be able to help.
Hope @Hostafan1 is either feeling much better, or can access something that will help 🤞
I slept so much better last night knowing that son’s car is saveable. 😊 it looks grey and damp out there … some showers expected later but hopefully nothing heavy 🤞 OH has a medical appointment later on … he’s booked a taxi. I’m going to make some bread and sausage rolls but otherwise I’ll treat myself gently … I think the adventure took a bit more out of me than I expected. There’s some more dahlias in the garden that need picking 😊
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Back again after nearly a week "off the grid". My OH moved flats last Wednesday and called me to come and help. Being a week day, there was a remarkable absence of family and friends!! The movers had done the big stuff and packed cartons, but there was all those awful little bits that require a lot of comings and goings in lifts to cars and then cars to lifts in the new flat etc. etc. Then a good clean and lick of paint so that hopefully, he will get his bond returned.
In the new flat, the Wifi hadn't been connected as the server was stuffing around.
I have more or less read the 150 or so posts on this thread since last week so my commiserations go out to people with aches, painful teeth, overbearing exes, sodden cars and runny poos. Big squeezes to all concerned ad lots of support. But we are still here in whatever state that is.
Driving back from Montpellier yesterday, I was behind a builder's truck luckily at a distance when a steel bar with a cross bar bounced off the truck onto the road in front of me. It bounced on the cross bar, luckily to the hard shoulder and I was able to avoid it. Had I been closer to the vehicle, the bar would have gone through the windscreen.
Such a shame Punky D, that the English lost in such a close game. Looks as if we are facing the Boks this weekend which pleases my neighbour who is a professional rugby player from South Africa. I'm glad the French are out as I think if we were to face them in the final - and on their home ground - we would have lost. I'm betting on the Blacks to take the Cup this year not because they are my home team but because the Boks are as good as they're cracked up to be. Look out for this red "Plan de Dieu" Rhône Villages which I find in Aldi.
We finally had a good dose of rain - it wasn't enough but much needed. The Cevennes area got the brunt of it....great for the animals - goats, sheep and cattle and hopefully will promote some grass growth.
The weather is mild and damp - with 22°C and overcast. Been extremely windy but today is calm and maybe some sun later to dry the washing.
Today's expression is: Souvent, à la Florentin, l'hiver laisse le chemin.
Here, there’s a loaf of bread proving and 16 well-sized sausage rolls ready to go into the oven while it’s hot. The kitchen has been cleared up and I have a ☕️

Gosh that was a lucky escape @tui. A few years ago I was driving on the A20 near Vierzon in the dark and in heavy rain to see my son near Orléans. A lorry's exhaust pipe fell off and went through the front of my car. It went through the radiator among other things. Luckily I was near a service station. The car was repaired but it never seemed quite the same since. Vierzon is a dreadful place to get back to Dordogne from. The insurance paid for me to get a taxi to a station that had a train service to Orléans.
I'm going to the dentist at lunch time, Son 2. The tooth that a bit chipped off a while ago keeps getting food stuck in it then it aches.
I hope I will feel up to gardening this afternoon. This, according to the forecast, will be the only sunny day for the next 2 weeks. Lots of rain is forecast. I have 50 violas to plant in the borders and a delivery of plants for shade to plant or pot on according to size. Some are for Son 2's shady bed which isn't ready for planting yet.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Its tippling down here, and we really could do without it as areas around and about are suffering from the affects of storm Babet and this rain will just add to their problems.
Goodness me @tui34, that was a near miss. I bet your heart was pounding somewhat after that.
Sending kind thoughts and hugs to all of you with worries or illness at the moment, and hope that you all start to see some relief from them ASAP.
We had our flashing repaired yesterday thank goodness and 🤞all seems nice and dry - this rain is a good test, I suppose.
@punkdoc, I sincerely hope that your garden doesn’t flood any more and that it doesn’t reach your house. 🤞🤞🤞.
