Amazing Fairy Ring @Tack Mine was a bit of a fail… I’ve mixed the bulbs together, thinking they’ll take turns growing and blooming, however they all seem to have grown at the same time so flowers on smaller flowering bulbs were invisible among thick tulip leaves… I may have to dig them up and sort them out in the autumn. I also wanted a smallish ring but I think it’s ended up being too small. And I have no idea why the ring it’s so patchy… whether it’s my planting or some bulbs failed to grow…
Isn't that always the way @Oliya when you try to achieve a certain look yourself but I'm sure you'll get there. My FR was a happy accident of bulbs under the lawn left after a round bed was removed which I add early and small flowering bulbs to as I remove them from pots. Tulips are not my favourite because of the bigger leaves but there are a few small varieties in there. Their leaves are the most stubborn to disappear. My Canary Bird is promising to bloom early this year @Marlorena
@hupellon Nye Bevan is not a big rose so it might be ok for quite a while. There are plenty of potted roses on these threads bursting out of their pots but still looking good, Nollie's Gertrude Jekyll in the past springs to mind (how does GJ like the new home Nollie?). You could try root pruning every few years to keep it in a smaller pot than ideal. I've not done that yet but expect I will do sometime in the future as my oldest pot roses are 3 going on 4 years with me.
@Oliya, I made exactly the same mistake with my pots - tall foliage obscuring smaller flowers - lesson learned.
Yesterday I visited Fryers Garden Centre in Knutsford - not to buy anything in particular but just to have a look around. Fryers roses are based there and there were lots of roses in the outside plant section.
But it's a big place and I don't walk well so i didn't really enjoy my visit.
Today I contacted them with a suggestion that they should provide mobility scooters and I have had a reply straight back saying that is a great idea!
So thumbs up to Blue Diamond (it's part of a chain) for listening to a customer.
Went to the garden centre to buy some primroses and violas and ended up buying one of those miniature potted roses that are not meant to live long. I just couldn’t resist! 🌹 🥰
