@pitter-patter does that mean it doesn't mind a bit of shade? The only place I've got for it has some shade. Mine will be on a fence.
The staff are relieved @Marlorena, though a couple were in tears at first because of the unknown. There is already work going on. The marquee where the clematis were has come down and that area is fenced off.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
I think it will do better with a bit of shade, especially in the afternoon. I will trial it and see.
I know it’s not much, but nothing gets me so excited as the first seedlings of spring. I have lots of labelled trays with rose seeds, but this one is from a mixed pot, so not sure about the parents. There are three little seedlings so far.
@Oliya I don’t have Meteor, but this year I have another newly launched Kordes rose ‘Spotlight’, which is yellow. With Kordes you can usually rely on excellent health, vigour and floriforousness. They often prioritise those qualities over fragrance.
Spotlight has quite nice foliage. Early days, but I’m hoping it’s not going to be as wickedly thorny as ‘Golden Beauty’, which it is replacing..
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Please note that the strength of a rose’s scent can vary depending on factors such as the time of day, weather, and the rose’s growing conditions. It’s always a good idea to check with a local nursery or rose society for the most accurate information.
Well, I never knew 'Boscobel' was red did you? and what's the point of AI if it's best to check with a local nursery or rose society. AI should have ALL the answers..
Has anyone else noticed power coated steel structures rusting and collapsing? My pergola has recently fallen and broken. It was put together using screws and bolts. Would oiling the steel before putting outside help? What do others do, please?
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus
Ah, it's all very new - early days. It's chews on data it has from the internet in quantity. Gardening and poetry and such is dwarfed by other subjects. Ask it about porn or Taylor Swift and I daresay it could roll out a life story with eye watering detail.
I recently bought a Peach Melba, partly on the strength of it being rose of the year and bred by Kordes. It's supposed to be a climber but it's only supposed to grow to 6/6.5 feet or so. I'm new to roses, does 6 feet count as a climber? Does anyone on the forum grow it?
It definitely grows much taller than that. Unfortunately the flowers tend to grow at the top of very long canes, no matter how horizontal I’ve trained it.

This is the reply.
Several red roses are known for their strong scent:

Not impressed so far.

'Spotlight' looks nice in that pot, never heard of it..
Can't help about the arches, sorry to hear about that, I don't think I've had that problem so far. Some rust, yes, but not a total collapse.
Lovely seedlings @pitter-patter fun thing to do, something I've not tried often enough.
