    @cooldoc, @Desi_in_London is correct.  There aren't termites in the UK. Termites don't like wet. There was one case of termites in a house in Devon in a dry sandy area but they were destroyed.
    Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    @cooldoc, in my garden I have found ants in dry conditions. Sometimes the pot may be moist on top and ants will be living at the bottom of the pot. Sometimes the soil deep is moist in the bed and ants will be living on the dry mulch or a mound of soil which a bit at higher level than rest of the garden. I havent been able to find a way to totally get rid. They just move to drier spot.
