As it's the bleak season, I might do a pic a day from the summer... You are welcome to show any of your best as well.. All good.. 'Bring Me Sunshine'..
Nice idea Marlorena. I tried to find a photo on the same day as yours but nothing. The day before however I found 2. The Lark Ascending Left to right England's Rose, THe Ancient Mariner, Kew Gardens, Scarborough Fair and The generous Gardener on the trellis
@Marlorena, I think you said that it was probably best to leave my new roses where they are for the moment and move them into bigger pots later? Is that right?
@kate.james58 It's what I do, but you don't have to follow that. If it's more convenient for you to pot them up permanently now, then go ahead. I just think a lot of the nutrients can wash out over winter. .. I like to leave it until the end of Feb as they start growing away in March, so they are ready for the season ahead. I bare root them from the temp. pots into bigger ones, all fresh for Spring.
Thank you @Marlorena. I think I'll see if we have a nice day in the next few weeks - supposed to be sleeting I think tomorrow. The reason for the question is that I may be going in for op again and will have to be careful about lifting afterwards. But I can probably get someone to help if I have to. Weather's been lovely here today and I have planted the two fruit trees in their pots.
I've just had an email from David Austin asking if i would like them to send me a copy of their 2024 handbook. As they sent me 4 copies of the 2023 one within a month I'm surprised that they bothered asking. One was my fault because I requested it twice, one was sent with The Country Parson and then another a week later. Anyway, I've ordered one.
