The stem doesn't get any taller but it will get thicker.   Lucky to have a 'MW' standard..
Oh that’s good it will thicken up.  I have a weeping Alberic Barbier standard (Beales) which is huge so I’m glad it won’t get as big as that.

@Fire my lack of knowledge is showing! Maybe it’s as well the stem doesn’t grow higher but was glad to hear it would get more sturdy.  🌹💚

My work has given me notice and put on garden leave. The thing is, I would love to have garden leave if I could actually garden!
I will be searching for jobs in this bleak weather and market  😔
@newbie77. This can be a difficult time (and the timing is a bit cr*p too).  When this happened to me, my brother gave me the best advice: "Never look back, you have already walked that road.  Look forward as life is an adventure".  Best of luck.

Big hugs, @newbie77. Horrible time of year for it. I'm in a precarious position as well. But "There is a crack in everything. That is how the light gets in." Best of luck to you and yours and Merry Christmas. x

Thanks WAMS. I need all positive thoughts right now. Hopefully I will find something where I won't have long commute. Wishful thinking.

I'm sorry to read that news @newbie77, I feel for you. This happens to so many people and it often turns out very well indeed. Fingers crossed for you too.

I'm also sorry to hear that @newbie77, my best wishes to you.

Just happened to my daughter as well. She says she's going to enjoy two weeks holiday before Christmas and worry afterwards.
