Wow, 6ft, that’s a bit taller than I thought @Tack! Since mine is espaliered against a 4ft fence I wasn’t sure what it could do grown freestyle. I’m going to prune hard and low this year and start again, since I need to replace the too-hot metal that charcoaled a few canes, so will see how that goes.
My Falstaff was a puny, gangly thing @WAMS and ridden with blackspot, then I pruned it back by half midsummer and it’s a different rose. I think it’s akin to most dark Austins and needs a lot of water and food to bloom well. And clearly needs threatened by the secateurs.
Shock horror! My roses arrived this afternoon, complete with CPM! The local guys probably had a right pasting by DPD management having refused to deliver a big perennial order here and having to compensate me and the nursery. CPM and one other are potted, but I paid for bare root. Will post a photo tomorrow. Thanks for the good wishes everyone, that must’ve helped 😆
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Here is Soul @Nollie, 3 year old Cutie Pie next to it @kate.james58 I still have potted roses to prune but Dames de Chenonceau gets a pass for now Gosh it's cold out there
Sorry if I've missed any comments but has anyone had their order from Tuincentrum Lottum yet this bareroot season?
My order was placed in mid-July with a mid-late November timeframe but I've not heard anything yet. I've email Vic a few times this month to change the order but stopped getting replies a couple of weeks ago.
I know I'm impatient but would just like to know if the order is still coming...
@andy1977 I’ve ordered in August, added to it later and not received it until February. I wonder if you change your order it effectively becomes a new one and shunts down the list? I also queried a late order once and Vic said he was waiting for one replacement rose from another source as their field specimens weren’t up to scratch. So I would just be patient and maybe email again if you haven’t got your order by the end of Jan. I imagine bare root season is a frenetic nightmare for rose nurseries!
