..still some late blooms on 'Marie Nabonnand'.. sparse on foliage this time of year.. I continue to be impressed with 'Loyal Companion'.. these blooms have now been open for 7 days, rain resistant and light frost. Hope you're all getting some nice basals this autumn.. this one on 'Sally Holmes'.. Salvia 'Delice Feline'..
@Dasha, I also look forward to a break in winter. I used to enjoy winter gardening in my previous garden but in this garden there are two huge poplars in neighbour's garden which drop leaves and couple of big apple trees which drop a lot of mess. Garden also gets very soggy.
By the end of autumn I am fed up of raking and just want a break!
@newbie77 I can relate to that! My garden used to be occupied by allotments loooong time ago and then just left to grow wild. Now it's just overgrown trees (way too many and too big in such a small space) and every time I dig I find piles of glass from broken greenhouses, lots and lots of rusted metal etc. Dug up an old metal bed frame last year... I had lots of enthusiasm when I stated 2 years ago, not so much now. I hope you get some well-deserved rest over the winter!
I am sorry to hear about your health troubles @Fire... I am the same in regards to forming relationships with my plants. It is rather difficult when they are not doing well. My roses got really battered in last night's storm. I woke up several times worrying about their wellbeing. Silly but what can you do
@PeterAberdeen any idea what variety is your Daphne? I read they don't live long but your experience is different. I read similar things about lavender but then some people keep them alive for decades... Trial and error I guess
Sorry @Dasha as it was planted 20 years or so ago I have no idea. But looking up Daphne × transatlantica Eternal Fragrance - it looks very similar.
Thank you @PeterAberdeen, I think I might give it a try after all then!
I'd so keep that Prince, Nollie. Tried to get it twice this year but it sold out before I had time to head to the site and buy it.
Welling Roses (order through FB. I had John Paul II from them last year and it's been very good) have despatched my Kingfisher/Eisvogel and Special Child/Aspirin. TW and DA are also despatching.
I have compost for a wonder but am quite a few pots short.😬
This Ghislaine is showing the sort of blooms that I had hoped it would show. Beautiful shape and colour. Hopefully all the ones I have will explode next year.
The first photo shows the blooms in bud, half open and blown. I love the mid-point, but it may only last a day. This spot will be out of direct sun for about half the year.

Moonlight - rarely without bloom somewhere. They die well.
Well I should get rid of TP because it fries even in morning sun, so I only get decent blooms in spring and autumn. Even then it’s ‘weather permitting’ since it’s so unpredictable these days. But I probably won’t be able to do the deed!
New flush just starting on Stormy Weather, with some nice, deep tones:
Mountainous Northern Catalunya, Spain. Hot summers, cold winters.
Beautiful @Fire, I hope they really thrive for you next season. Mine is in shade for all but 2-3 hours of the day in summer but it eventually took off. I think i would get more blooms in a sunnier spot though.
Not me with Lady of Shalott Nollie, WAMS is your LOS lady. I just don't like that rose though I can recognise its quality.
I hope everyone is ok in the storms. It is mild here, got a load of planting and transplanting done in the widened border this morning, the warm and wet conditions are ideal though somewhat muddy.
I wonder if the roses will actually go dormant, last year I pruned and manually defoliated an awful lot.
Marie Pavie has immaculate full foliage and dozens of buds, could be June Gruss an Aachen just one of many being showy still
