It seems that all the above posts are of Beetroot nearly at ground level.
@purplerallim - still rubbish I'm sad to say. Your photos are giving me Extreme Beetroot Envy Not sure what is happening here but my post should read growing in raised beds 1 mt depth
OK @philippasmith2 not trying to boast😊 My variety are Boltardy, it's the second year with this one, and I'm pleased with it again. First time root crops have worked for me, but these and the Speedo Carrots are side by side and loving this location. My problem may come that I can't rotate the crops, so disease may become a problem.
No @Escapetothegarden it's the opposite they need. They need that little bit to get started, but then the roots need to search for it making larger roots 😁

@purplerallim - at least I can look at your pics whilst eating my shop bought ones and pretend I used to do Boltardy but this time I used Subuteo.

I used to do Boltardy but this time I used Subuteo.
