@owd potter, sounds very painful, have you had it cleansed  and dressed properly at A&E? Suggest you keep a very close eye on it if not, don't want sepsis to set in.

Same applies to you @Marlorena of course, hope it's not too painful and heals soon.

I always wear gloves in the garden, tight fitting, stretchy ones from Showa, the very best ones. The only time I don't is when I'm tying in clematis and/or roses.

..that isn't Hagley Hybrid.. it might be 'Niobe'... but there are some others that look similar..
    Whatever, they're both looking great...

I too planted Forever Friends last year (or maybe two years ago), and although it has grown very tall, it is disappointingly really just one long stem. I guess I should pinch it out early in the growing season?
Yes, in order to get several stems you must absolutely pinch early in Spring as low as possible (just above the buds, even they look tiny then). I was not strict enough and ended up with 2 or 3 stems only...
Here's a pic taken this morning:

@Marlorena, that's what we've always know  it as. Hmm, might have to try and see if I can hunt the label out, if we've still got it.

Thank you @Papi Jo. I did try and reduce the size but haven't mastered it yet.
