@owd potter, sounds very painful, have you had it cleansed and dressed properly at A&E? Suggest you keep a very close eye on it if not, don't want sepsis to set in.

I always wear gloves in the garden, tight fitting, stretchy ones from Showa, the very best ones. The only time I don't is when I'm tying in clematis and/or roses.
@Papi Jo I too planted Forever Friends last year (or maybe two years ago), and although it has grown very tall, it is disappointingly really just one long stem. I guess I should pinch it out early in the growing season?

Yes, in order to get several stems you must absolutely pinch early in Spring as low as possible (just above the buds, even they look tiny then). I was not strict enough and ended up with 2 or 3 stems only...

..that isn't Hagley Hybrid.. it might be 'Niobe'... but there are some others that look similar..
