I popped down to Wrose earlier for a ‘top up’ shop for the weekend only to find the fresh produce shelves almost empty … I wanted meat for the weekend … almost all that was available was meatballs and sausages so it’s sausages tonight and meatballs on Monday… there was a piece of belly pork the right size on the butchery counter so we’ll have that tomorrow… the butcher apologised for the ‘situation’ and explained there’s a widespread IT/delivery glitch resulting in a chaotic supply situation. He said the warehouse staff are just loading anything into lorries which arrive at the shops. with no manifest … and the shop staff gave no pricing guidance/labels etc. They’re just trying to get food into the shops and help customers find suitable substitutes for what they’d intended to buy. I must say he was remarkably phlegmatic about it and all the staff were going out of their way to help. Senior managers were stacking shelves …
Do you know if it’s affecting the southwest @Hostafan1?

Well that's interesting Dove,  this is the 3rd major IT system that seems to be down . (BA yesterday passport control today). Makes you wonder if certain foreign elements are mounting cyber attacks.

Afternoon all, that's what I wondered @Allotment Boy. We might have to get used to it.
Hope your injuries ease by Tuesday.

It seems quieter than usual, I suspect a lot of neighbours have probably gone away for the B/H weekend, thank goodness we're not in a queue anywhere.

Enjoy your time with Charlie @D0rdogne_Damsel. Plan B sounds ok to me. If the rental restaurant is all on one floor, might even make life easier for staff?

Hope your OH gets seen to @didyw, chest pains are always a bit nervewracking.

We've planted out the runner beans (all 3 of them!, the rest didn't germinate so I've had to sow some more) and the French dwarf beans. The ground's very, very dry so had to water it thoroughly beforehand. I will have to get the hosepipe out tonight and water the front borders as I can't lift a watering can very easily at the moment. It hasn't rained for 3 weeks here.

Sounds as though we were lucky to get our Sainsbury's order on Thursday @Dovefromabove. I wonder if other supermarkets were affected.

Apparently the glitch has been affecting Wrose for a few days …

    Good afternoon all.

Lovely sunny day here - in fact too hot to walk the dog (and me) but I will go on my bike around 6pm to rest the knee a bit.  She gallops along - well in front really!!

My nurse neighbour gave me quite a few large mushrooms, so I'll stuff them later - have some for dinner and freeze the rest.

So, a quiet day today with a few back to back series and some more chapters of a good book.

Enjoy your Saturday and may everyone's aches and pains disappear!

It most certainly is. Total chaos.

That’s interesting re Waitrose. A lot of our shelves were empty yesterday, we had just assumed that there had been an influx of self catering tourists who had stripped the store. Managed to get everything I wanted with a few substitutes. Often see the managers filling shelves anyway.

    Good morning Forkers

Another sunny day. Neighbours day has arrived. I chopped the aubergines and put them under salt overnight, today I will make caponata. Then some focaccia to go with it. Not used to doing these street parties, I am a little nervous. There are 8 languages for 10 houses in our cul de sac.

Are you feeling better @Allotment Boy
@Nanny Beach I have never heard of your illness, hopefully the doctor has sent you on the right track to getting better.
Shame about Waitrose, it used to be my local when I lived in England many years ago.

Hope you all have a lovely Bank Holiday.
