How do you feel about the coronation?

This is a tradition, it is not nonsense. It is hundreds of years of Kings and Queens doing the same, it's our history and it is a part of this Island's heritage and it isn't wrong to want to carry this tradition forth into the future.

From  what I understand, King Charles is changing what he can about the event and his role to make it more modern and in keeping with our times. His life is what it is, as ours are what we made of them. We have all made mistakes or done things we are not proud of, does that make us a bad 'un for ever? I think not.

Yeah all of that is nonsense to me.

It’s been going on a long time. So what? That doesn’t mean I have to love it and go giddy about it. It’s a performance put on by a family who are rich and entitled. I’d rather go for a walk in a forest. I have unlimited respect for nature. None for the royals.

Waste of money . Shrug shoulders
I will be doing my best not to see a single second of it.  The sheer waste of money is currently making my blood boil.  Lets let our health service and our kids education go to hell in a handcart while we spend a fortune on this ridiculous load of codswallop.

That's OK @TheGreenMan, we just have different opinions but sometimes it's good to hear the opposite to our own beliefs and viewpoints. There still appears to be plenty of Royalists or those who believe in the monarchy left on this island.

I have difficulty in getting agitated about the coronation but the quoted cost of £250 million astonished me. Checking it out, I found many sources citing the figure to be around the £100 million mark - still one hell of a lot but, if you’ll excuse the whataboutery, that is what the UK spends on tanning studios every month.

What did surprise me, reading about the cost of this jamboree, is that the Spanish and Scandinavian monarchies simply don’t have coronations. On the other hand I think we need to acknowledge the unquantifiable ‘soft power’ of this. We have an almost unequalled reputation in the world for history, pageantry, pomp, splendour … it’s a diminished state of affairs if we can’t demonstrate this every decade or so when coronations and royal weddings or funerals come around.

The cost is but a drop in the ocean,  4.6 billion to Ukraine so far,  that’s only in 2 years,  there will be more.  Don’t get me wrong,  I am supporting Ukraine this year as my chosen charity,  but if this money wasn’t spent on Ukraine or the coronation,  it wouldn’t be going to the foodbanks.

@BenCotto it is my understanding that it was quoted at 100 million before people claimed they would/may protest against it. I believe it was just stop oil that mentioned possible protests and this shot the cost up 150 million for security alone. It's ironic that this money will be spent on security rather than environmentally beneficial projects, especially because Charles has spoken about the climate for a very long time.

The thing that amazes me is how bloated every project is in this country where it would be a fraction of the cost elsewhere.

MPs have claimed £180m in expenses in the last three years. The NHS and in fact all public services are told to cut running costs and make efficiencies but those in charge seem to have unlimited credit cards to play with. Charles has a lot to say about the climate but I just hope he puts more of his words into action now he's in charge.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

All those tiny plastic flags, string, plastic partyware, balloons etc etc, all going to landfill.. or hedges, or water, or fields... utterly contemptible and for what reason?
