I wonder if, after the funeral, we are all pageanted out for now or people aren't too keen on the main act or the money could be spent on something else
There seems to be complete apathy about the whole shebang amongst much of the population
I think the military aspect is deeply inappropriate. I hadn't given it much thought before the jubilee, but it made me uncomfortable, watching the 'pageantry' on the news reports and seeing it more as relics of empire and out of place now. I don't mind parades and parties and bunting, if people want to do that, any excuse is fair enough really. But all the soldiers and guns firing and archaic traditions based around stolen jewels and dead animal parts - just no, really. And anything featuring Gary Barlow at any stage has me racing for the off switch

Our road is having a street party, went to the Jubilee one as well. To be honest it was more to chat to other families etc. 39 households although not everyone came.
I was on holiday for " the funeral " so didn't see any of that either, not that I'd have watched any of it had I been here. It's just a ridiculously pampered family of parasites .
I like Charles anyway, he happens to like things that I like, gardening, horses, watercolours. I never thought he and Diana were right together right from the start and I'm glad he eventually found happiness with Camilla.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Not particularly interested, but good that the UK can put on a good show for tourists. Very annoyed that Camilla is being crowned queen though. Prince Philip wasn’t crowned king just because he was married to a reigning monarch, nor was Prince Albert. So does that mean that the title of queen is of lower status than king? Seems very sexist in this day and age, and in my eyes, an insult to the late queen.
@Ergates Camilla is a queen consort, not a queen. The wife of a king is always a queen consort but most of the time the consort part of the title gets dropped. I have noticed it's been used quite a bit to refer to Camilla but I think that's to give the impression that it's a lesser title than Diana would have had which isn't the case. Diana would also have been a queen consort and Kate will be when William takes the throne. As to why the husband of a queen is called a prince consort rather than a king consort, I don't know. Some antiquated BS no doubt.
