If you do a Google image search of glasswort roots you’ll see it’s nothing like the tuberous beast you’ve got.
I’m almost sure the spears are growing from the tuber but is there any chance they’re originating from below and burrowing their way through this obstacle in their way?
I worked in a garden that had an asparagus bed thirty years ago. Then put to lawn with a yew hedge. I found asparagus plants that had died but before they had given up the ghost they had grown another plant further along. Happened all along the hedge. I dug them out and now after growing them on, I have tasty asparagus every spring.
Iv just doubled checked, the spears are definatley coming from the tuber and its well rooted from the feel of it. Starting to think it may be knotweed now as someone said earlier

Fallopia japonica...common name Japanese not weed does not have tuberous roots.
