It’s not so much that Dove, I worry about fire needing to be put out. His offsider today was a local female. She Is always quick to respond- unlike some of the local males. 🤬. Grrr Ā

    Hi all

Still full of cold and feeling fairly miserable.
We have cancelled our Summer holiday to Mull, most of what we wanted to do would have required moderate exercise, and I am just too infirm. Shame, I was looking forward to seeing the White Tailed Eagles.

Glad you were feeling well enough to go to the plant sale @Busy-Lizzie.Ā  And great that you recognised the hosta man as the same one who comes to our Garden Market.Ā  That is coming up again in a few weeks. Hope its a good a day as it is today - and was last year when you came.

Glad to see that Rob is making good progress and that his face was spared @Dovefromabove.

Glad all turned out to be well @Pat E.

Sometimes you just have to be realistic about what you can and cannot do, don't you @punkdoc.Ā  When we first moved here, over 20 years ago, we enjoyed really long walks. Now just walking into town with my OH sees us stopping a couple of times while he catches his breath (COPD).Ā  And I get a bit puffed out myself.Ā  But I'm sure that will get sorted out as soon as I get cracking in the garden again.Ā

    Speaking of which...Ā

So sorry, Punkdoc. Can you line up something less active to make up for it? Hopefully when you get your hip sorted, you can reschedule?

Afternoon all. Cloudy here with a bit of drizzle but not cold so I’m doing a few garden jobs hoping it will brighten up.Ā
    Ā
You must be gutted about the Mull holiday @punkdoc but silly to book something that is not feasible. There’s an interior design programme on BBC Scotland (iPlayer) which is based on Mull and covers some of the other islands: ā€˜Designing The Hebrides’. Absolutely gorgeous scenery even if you don’t love the interior design stuff.Ā

Ok it’s decision time… dandelion murder or ivy assault???Ā

Evening all, disappointed this morning to wake up to drizzle and cloud. Had my third disturbed night as our central heating keeps turning on in the early hours - far too hot for me. Not sure why, OH is going to read the manual again later.

Great pity about the Mull holiday @punkdoc but probably wise.Ā

I bet you were relieved when your OH got home @Pat E but good of him to turn out.

Oh, ivy assault every time @AuntyRach.

Dinner with our friend last night went well, I didn't forget or burn anything! He seemed to be dealing quite well with being on his own, being very sensible, eating properly, exercising and socialising so I was quite relieved. We're meeting up again for lunch sometime.

It brightened up in the afternoon so I managed to manure all 17 roses in the back garden. I was out of breath @didyw, just walking up and down the steps with buckets of manure.

    Hope @Busy-Lizzie is okay today.

Not surprised you got out of breath @Lizzie27 - I bet the buckets of manure got heavier as you went along.

I spent a very pleasant time weeding the veg patch accompanied by a pair of robins, a blackbird and, before I started, a starling allowed me to watch as he rooted among the weeds to get tiny insects.Ā  I didn't like pulling out the forget-me-knots but I did spend a bit of time gazing at that gorgeous blue.Ā  The green alkanet though - no qualms about that.

Why do you pull out the forget-me-nots @didyw? Can't they stay and be pulled out when they've flowered? I love them.

I went to the surgery this morning. They said they treat ex-pats free and try to book them in quickly but today was fully booked. I'm so much better now that I didn't make an appointment.

Went to Curry's to buy landline phones that seem better than our cheap ones. Haven't installed them yet. Then went to Sainsbugs as OH had a £6 voucher about to expire so did the weekly shop early. Nectar card allowed another £7.50 off and various products cheaper. Coffee was half price with the card. Altogether over £18 off.

Had long chat with Daughter 2 on phone. We watched GW with a coffee. Then I told OH I was out to do some gardening and we realised it was 6pm already. Got the washing in and, despite it being a lovely day and I hadn't worn a coat, the washing was still damp, bother it.
