It's so dark morning with rain. Like Hazel, I also have problem with slugs. Every morning when is raining I can sweep them with broom, and this year they eat literally everything.
But enough with complaining, it's Thursday and I wish you all nice and at least warm day. Now is time for school.
Up and ready early today for the new windows. It's lovely outside, have put the cosmos outside to harden off and have noticed that after all the rain we've had, some of the plants are enormous just now. I've never seen such tall ferns, discentra, canterbury bells, and so on and the Tumbling Ted is growing upwards as well as falling downwards. The home grown foxglove are giants so think some will have to come out / go somewhere else as they are crowding out so many plants underneath.
This afternoon we have to pick up a SM shop so busy day ahead.
Off to get a quick cuppa and then it will start. Have a good day everyone.
Good morning everyone. Debs I am glad you enjoyed your peaceful time in Staffs .We all need a little down time .Rosie I hope you get some more sleep today .Ante sorry to read that you have a slug problem too.We seem to have a lot this year .LB love the cartoons .Enjoy your time with your Bestie.Hazel another busy day for you .My plants are very tall too.Enjoy your day everyone .
Afties all. Window chaps have been and gone and done a very smart, trouble-free job...and cleared up after themselves and hoovered! We are very pleased with the results. They also realigned the bathroom window and sorted the patio door out for us ( it sticks when opening and shutting) so all sound and looking good. OH and I spent the time in the back garden whilst they were here and we've caught up with quite a few small jobs that needed doing, so onwards now to SM to pick up weekly shop. Then, we have to make ready for a quick visit from son and 23( 23 has been badgering son to bring him to see us) so reckon by tonight, we will be well pooped🤭😂
We have just been to a Gardeners' Club meeting, the general club, not the Rose Group, bit this time. There was an interesting talk about how to know where you are when out in the countryside. The plants and trees can tell you which direction you are facing by the way they grow and look for the sun and avoid the wind. Then we had a bring and share lunch, loads of varied dishes. We met some old friends and some new people, most enjoyable.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Afternoon all. New hob installed and (touch wood, don't step on cracks etc) it seems to be working ok. It's the direct replacement for the old one but it's a bit different. For a start this one has Wi-Fi.... don't ask!
I can see that might be useful if you go out and can't remember if you turned the hob off (you can turn it off from your phone if needs be) and, if there's a problem, you can give engineers remote access to complete diagnostic tests etc - but I'm hoping I don't have to use those facilities!
hazel - good to hear your windows are sorted ok.
Hope Rosie's curtain pole is responding to her swearing at it.
Ante - Slugs and snails are bad this year - the hostas in one border have already been decimated. Will have to do a bit of clearing of bulb foliage around them (I think the slugs slither up the strappy bulb leaves) and cut off the most damaged leaves or they will be a mess all summer.
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Afternoon all. Had a good day at Bestie's hair done, sun came out, we did some potting out of summer planting in large pots thought I was a tad restricted because of my back Everything in the countryside seems to be burgeoning. What a beautiful time of the year!
Hazel, your window installers sound super and I bet you are pleased with your new ones. Are you pooped then after 23's visit?
Busy it is so nice how quickly you have slipped back into all your French activities. I remember learning about pleurococcus - a green alga - that grows in damp, shady areas and can therefore often be found on the north side of trees.
T'Bird, you will be very pleased to have a working hob back in situ. Love the idea of Wifi! You definitely don't want to have to run diagnostic tests after the price you have had to pay for this replacement!
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I am signing out for tonight everyone. Enjoy your evenings. I might dip into Eurovision again. Having seen Let 3 I am prepared for anything! Night night all.
