Did you all get the govt phone alert?  I didn't get one.. neither did my husband on his phone.  We've checked our settings which seem alright... oh well.. I'll carry on with my roses then..

No emergency alerts here, neither on mine nor on OH's phones.

Delphiniums, so bad that snails love them. 🐌 hoping that one survives this spring in the garden

    Gloomy  day here , windy , rain…

@Marlorena oh you bought a climber . Seems lovely! Let’s hope it is a great welcome 😉.

The slowest rose is here Baron .

And as a contrast Julia Child vigorous as always.

Here it was as if the fire alarm went off at around 14 59 with so many devices (including tablets) going off at the same time..

can see pics in your last post @Victoria Sponge

oh nice @Nollie I will await your update on re-blooming and scent.. the thing is most of them take 2years to settle.. some of my slow bloomers last year are doing good this time..

Hi @Nollie what happened to your roses with the cherry tree? I ask as I have a rose either side of a cherry tree. Wondering if I should do something while they’re all relatively new in the ground!

The only issue I have is both my borders that are directly in the ground have a cherry tree, so my roses may have to move to pots.

    Thanks!

@Nollie there is about 1.5 feet between hedge and fence. The trees are hornbeams. They are quite tall. You may be able to spot the honeysuckle I recently planted at the back fence in the very centre. There were a few roots to content with. With so many hornbeams maybe it might not work? I don't know a great deal about trees so don't know whether 6 established hornbeams is something I should want to keep or not. I would much prefer a rose hedge. The fence is fairly high and there are only gardens beyond so no houses overlooking it. The trees to me just add extra shade to an already partly shaded area of the garden.

@Marlorena - thanks, I think I will take the Austin planting suggestions with a pinch of salt and go maybe 2.5-3ft gap with a large variety like Queen E? That White Pet at Breales looks stunning. The peonies look very good there - would they flower this year?

The OH and I both had the alerts around 2pm.

I think I must be doing something wrong( again) with my newly acquired rose ( and the last one if I don’t succeed in growing it!) 50th wedding anniversary one. Today is the first time a couple of buds have opened out into leaves and it’s been in the pot  for a few weeks now. From seeing all the lovely growth on roses here I think mine must be half asleep. Is this normal growth speed to be so slow at this time of year despite it being a “ new” rose? Thanks.

@Songbird-2 is your new rose potted or did you plant it as a bare root this winter just gone? I have planted out a fair few of both new bare roots and new potted roses that I have aquired over the last 4 weeks or so. They all have variable growth rates and I think that is down to the variety. Out of my new bare roots and potted roses I think only two of them have small buds and the rest have none at all yet.
