    @owd potter yes, totally inadvisable and unsuitable for a pot but it was a leftover and it was either that or the bin. OH really wanted to keep it so there it is. Better than the 10L nursery pot it’s been living in for two years prior! I give it three years max in there, but we are looking to downsize about that time so not too bothered.

    @WAMS if I could only have one tea rose it would be a serious toss up between Mme. Antoine Mari and Lady Hillingdon. Tough choice!

    @Marlorena - no sorry 35 is the price for 10 from J Parker’s so £3.5 each. I worked out I need 18. Austin reckons 1-2 ft apart for a hedge depending on mature spread.

    This is the area:

    This corner is a bit neglected. Planning to over-seed and top dress the lawn here. The box hedge is in fairly good condition. There is more room that the photo shows between the box hedge and the fence. There are a lot of lovely photos on Austin website with rose hedges behind a low box hedge. My only issue will be the horn beam trees so may have a lot of soil improvement to do. Doesn’t get full Sun but gets a good 4-5 hours in the summer.

    @WAMS - thanks. Yeh I ideally wanted a scented one. Maybe this isn’t the one if it’s that vigorous.

    I think maybe @Marlorena’sLittle White Pet or @Nollie’s Marie Pavie . I have a large white hydrangea near where that pot is and also a climbing white hydrangea on the boundary on that side. So a white rose hedge would go well. Marlorena how is the scent on LWP?

    anyone else having problems with pictures uploaded by @Victoria Sponge I couldn't see it yesterday as well..
    Yes, you are right they have gone; I had to copy and paste them this time, normally I download and drag them...maybe that was why.  Thanks for letting me know.

    @Victoria Sponge
    I can't see your photos either... glad you had a nice trip away.

    @Mr. Vine Eye
    Lovely, especially the crabapple with the clematis, very nice indeed..

    @cooldoc
    No, I don't have any more, I lost them all some time ago with house moves..  the garden is all gone now of course, new people, you know what happens..

    @Nollie
    Gorgeous big rose blooms on Mme A Mari, doing really well for you now.. I do miss that rose.

    Just had a nice lunch at Peter Beales once again... I went back to get some Poppies they had last visit, but sold out.. so I committed a sin and bought a rose instead..

    I couldn’t see Vic’s photos either, thought it was my iPad..

    @Alfie_ how much width do you actually have between the fence and the box hedge? It does look very tight and you will have the spreading roots of the box and especially the trees to contend with. Are the trees cherry or any other member of the prunus family? I ask because they are a nightmare and will strangle roses, I know that to my cost!

    Delphiniums! That’s something I’ve been meaning to grow.

    I’ve just sown foxgloves as I’m missing them this year.
