'Elizabeth' today... after deadheading and tying in, it's held up well to the storms.. fair to say it's rain resistant.. Morning sun, shaded midday, with support..
Is anyone managing to grow Bring me Sunshine without supports? As it is heat and rain resistant I will try it as a small climber next year. I really like my new WS2000 but it too needs supports, does that get better with maturity? @cooldoc brilliant you captured the leaf-cutter bee (in 15 seconds!)... I think it was me...Made me laugh when I saw mine ( not seen again) and I am sure there was a sound to the cutting (unless I have gone crazy!).
Sorry to witness the demise of the forum. 😥😥😥😡😡😡I am Spartacus
I’m new to growing Roses, I have a white one which is a small standard - I’m not sure which kind it is and I have a big yellow Vanessa Bell
The white one looks wretched after rain, everything goes brown! Is this normal? (I have a Dahlia as well and it sort of browns but only the edges of older flowers and it’s hardly noticeable)
The Vanessa Bell looks fine - we had torrential rain last night and it hasn’t suffered at all.
I’ve deadheaded it because it was unattractive- is this the right thing to do?
@cooldoc thanks for leaf cutter images. Never caught them doing it - 15s probably explains why
Chandos standard chucking out equisite blooms:
The Chandos shrub is starting now:
Esuatacia Vye pot doing well now:
Throwing out gorgeous blooms:
Champagne Moment has started to get going. So many buds still though.
James Galway producing perfect blooms:
Felicia has exceeded all expactations. Pretty much one year in the ground now. Such a graceful growth habit and the scent is right up there with the very best. So very strong and lovely - wasn't expecting the scent to be this good. It grows next to Gerty and I prefer the scent on Felicia - strength is about the same on both for me. Based on this years flowers both outside and as cut flowers my top three scented roses have changed: 1) Chandos B 2) Felicia 3) Gertrude J
PAoK flopping on the floor all over the place in the pot which is annoying as it was new in a pot last year and needed no support. Have had to fully support it this year in the same pot:
This bee was so determined to find the nectar in PaOK - soooo many petals for it to get through:
@clematisdorset@Alfie_ I dint realise they are leaf cutters until they landed on another leaf and the job was done before I could grab my phone.. it was that quick and smooth.. luckily it decided to pull off one more job before disappearing again.. Thanks for the scent update on Felicia.. din't expect it to be strong tbh..

Rose picture for tax. It's a Wonderful Life this morning. No storm here.
Morning sun, shaded midday, with support..
@MarlorenaYour Elizabeth is like Google, eavesdroping on your forum discussions.. and decided to behave..😁
Someone had asked regarding leaf cutter bees.. managed to get a vid.. they finish the job in about 15 secs..
