I am looking forward to the rain as well. It’s rained everywhere else in the area when we’ve had the previous thunderstorms, but not a drop here. It’s supposed to start in the late afternoon.

    Thanks @Marlorena,
It’s not one of mine, yet. It was one in the David Austin rose border at Trentham yesterday.
we walked along the border sticking our noses into everything and the superb fragrance of this just stood out.
I really should know better re photos for plant identification but thought that someone here must recognise from the bloom alone?
Just another day at the plant...

@Mr. Vine Eye we are forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms later, though much like @WAMS I don’t quite believe it as every time rain has been forecast it hasn’t materialised!

Oh ok, so definitely an Austin then..  but without seeing the foliage, and the whole plant, I don't think anyone could be certain really.. I could say that 'Scepter'd Isle'.. 'Heritage' .. and 'Gentle Hermione' all produce blooms like that, but they have distinctive foliage too.. also some of the older ones no longer sold by them, but still appear in gardens, can look like that..  those 3 all have strong scents that would certainly make you go 'wow' !.

You now have a good excuse for another visit...
