I am looking forward to the rain as well. It’s rained everywhere else in the area when we’ve had the previous thunderstorms, but not a drop here. It’s supposed to start in the late afternoon.
@owd potter Are you sure that's an Austin?.. as so many look the same it's important to show the whole plant, close ups of foliage and other detail, as they tend to have quite specific lines.. Other non-Austins look like that too these days.. Would you have bought a rose that's not one of theirs? I know you usually do buy those types.. Here's 'Enchantress' for instance, which also has a delicious scent.. so you see the difficulty..
Hopefully will rain in the afternoon.. did as much deadheading as possible yesterday.. last weeks rain lasted few hours but was a downpour.. did not have to water the pots for more than 2 days..
@WAMS I have seen mine that orangey last year.. I kinda like tha colour changing ones..
You are right @Nollie I too will give up on Rose de Molinard.. lanky habit with poor blooms in rain or sun..
Love the fragrance and huge blooms of Tropicana..
Thierry Marx.. love the fragrance.. not sure how it will stack up in rainy weather..
@pitter-patter I picture you as Gérard Depardieu in the storm scene from Jean de Florette, screaming at the skies as the rain passes just over the next hill 😁 https://youtu.be/GqZYviwbKa8
Thanks @Marlorena, It’s not one of mine, yet. It was one in the DavidAustinroseborder at Trentham yesterday. we walked along the border sticking our noses into everything and the superb fragrance of this just stood out. I really should know better re photos for plant identification but thought that someone here must recognise from the bloom alone?
@Mr. Vine Eye we are forecast heavy rain and thunderstorms later, though much like @WAMS I don’t quite believe it as every time rain has been forecast it hasn’t materialised!
@Athelas after some checking I am convinced that your Draga / Hallie and my Draga Frayla are the same. From Pheno Geno. After a hot day today it turned from true red to quite pink.
@owd potter Oh ok, so definitely an Austin then.. but without seeing the foliage, and the whole plant, I don't think anyone could be certain really.. I could say that 'Scepter'd Isle'.. 'Heritage' .. and 'Gentle Hermione' all produce blooms like that, but they have distinctive foliage too.. also some of the older ones no longer sold by them, but still appear in gardens, can look like that.. those 3 all have strong scents that would certainly make you go 'wow' !.

Great Expectations looks so much richer in colour and texture than what I expected from the stock picture!
Huge and glowing in the morning sun...

The flowers on mine don’t go that pink, but certainly there is a touch of magenta as the flowers age
A 1-day old bloom on Draga (the bud I took a photo of yesterday):
A 4-day old bloom on Draga:
