Location visibility on profile

I joined last month and to begin with, my location details were showing on my posts and profile (beside my name, but since last Wednesday, it has become invisible and I cannot see others' locations either. What could this be please - any ideas. Could a few people let me know whether than can or cannot see my location details? It is a mystery what has happened since a week ago!

    Oh hello @pansyface - thank you for that. I have tried checking others' profiles and I still cannot see locations and yet I could a week ago. Can I ask, can you see mine on my profile please?

    I hadn't noticed either - but yes, mine has gone, so there must be yet another glitch...
     
    The profile pages have all changed too. I noticed that a while ago. Very odd. 
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....



    I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Hello @Fairygirl thankyou. Yes, I used to see yours for instance but since last Wednesday afternoon (all fine on that morning) I could not see anyone's or mine. It was really useful for understanding planting conditions and others' perspectives on issues etc. My profile page format changed at the same time (last Wednesday).

    It looks as though each time a user interacts on the forum, the points increase, but for what purpose, I know not!  :)

    The location information was locked with a padlock a week or so ago, for some reason, so it is not visible to others.

    The easiest way to insert your location now is by using it as a signature by clicking on the round wheel icon, top right corner at the end of your user name.. 'user account'.
    Then click 'edit profile'
    On the right set of options click on 'signature settings'
    Type in the box your location
    click 'Save'

    Make sure the box 'hide signatures' is unchecked, otherwise you won't see them

    No need to sign out and back in again..

    If i go to my profile page and click on my location I get a message saying that it’s personal info and will not be shared. That’s new. 
    I get that it’s probably to do with Data Protection but it does rather defeat the object of it being there …   :/

    Thank you @Marlorena yes I noticed a few people have done that and I see you have too. Thank you for explaining, I was wondering...gremlins or something!

    Problem is signatures aren’t visible if you’re using a phone. 😒
