Afternoon folks, warmer and quite pleasant this morning so I've done some gardening and really enjoyed it though I might well ache tomorrow.
@Yviestevie, that's rather a nuisance. Court orders are usually enforceable though so your daughter may be able to phone the court and tell them he's not complied with the order or she may like to contact the Citizen's Advice centre which is free. Has she much stuff left in her old house? If it's not a lot she may be better off just writing it off.
I wish I'd had some counselling after my mum died, it took me a long time to come to terms with it. A few years ago I did have one session with a counsellor recommended by my GP for historic PTSD following the birth of my son. He's actually 50 today so I'd locked that away inside for a long, long time. I'm okay with it now.
Beautiful daffs @WonkyWomble. Good news is that I've just read that the charges for prepayment meters is going to be reduced by £45 from July and then possibly reduced for good. About time too!
Oh what a horrid situation for your daughter @Yviestevie, I know it's easy to say but I think I'd cut it lose and start again. I don't think I'd want anything that has any connection to such a nasty behaving person. I know things aren't easy to replace.... But I'd weigh up the emotional stress dragging it out costs also. Best wishes for a good outcome!
I saw that @Lizzie27, thank you! I always thought it was a cheek that they charged extra to people that paid up front....I think the aim is just to to folks off as much as possible in general but a good thing this had been rectified 👍😊
Snap @WonkyWomble - I have just sown my tomato seeds too. And some peas and beans and marigolds and a couple of experimentals (heliophila which they grow in a cold glasshouse at West Dean, and is beautiful 🤞🏻and vernonia as I want some height at the back of my borders and the slugs eat all the eupatorium before it can get going)
Going for an Indian tonight to celebrate Chicklets birthday boxing day.
Visited Wisley yesterday with littlest Chicklet - she wanted to see their houseplant display in the big Greenhouse. But the star of the show was definitely the Alpine house - a gorgeous display of colour from those Teeny weeny plants
The things she wants have no monetary value they are photos and sentimental items, also certificates and memorabilia from her uni days etc. Also some items from when the boys were born that she had put away safely. She will be devastated if she can't get them.
Oh dear, that is awful @Yviestevie, he's withholding those out of sheer spite of course. As I said, try Citizen's Advice, I think it's her only option.
OH is on his way home but it's now raining here. Pleased I got some gardening done this morning and I also spring-cleaned our en-suite - mainly because my friend might have to come over to use it whilst her new bathroom is being done! She's going to have the bath taken out and a walk-in shower put in - very sensible.
I like alpine plants @chicky as I've four terrace beds at waist level and you can admire them easily. Bet the display at Wisley was gorgeous. Enjoy your Indian tonight. My son is in Marrakech celebrating his 50th today. Says it's very hot! Lucky devil.
I totally understand why she wouldn't want to leave those @Yviestevie. Hopefully they are the types of things he wouldn't throw away and maybe things could thaw in the future. I really hope she gets them back. I agree with @chicky and @Lizzie27 citizens advice probably the best action to take.
Lovely to get some work in the garden done isn't it Chicky. I'm not stuffed with roast chicken and have put off the ironing until another day.... Have a lovely belated birthday curry with Chicklet. Hope everyone is having a nice restful Sunday
I had some Daffodil and fresh air therapy, as inspired by @WonkyWomble ’s pic! Had a walk with my sister, niece and the dog - the Daffodils were out in force despite last week’s snow cover.
Chicken dinner on the go. Bit late starting it tonight but I can pause (pun intended!) Crufts between gravy-making and serving. I’ve done my new favourite dish, leek gratin, to go with it - it’s like a stuffing and veg side all in one.
Take care all those with worries of all shapes and sizes.
Sorry to read about peoples problems. There’s no easy solution, is there! I sometimes think about the time that Cyclone Tracy destroyed our home in Darwin. Photos and precious things never seen again. Luckily we were visiting my parents in NSW, so didn’t have the trauma of being in the actual cyclone like our friends and our cat, but we never returned to Darwin. 🥺
Today is quiet and coolish, but we are in for a hot one I think.
