Noticed quite a few have Calagromtis karl foerster I liked and I've tried it in the past, but by time winter comes around its already on the deck

It’s fine in my dry, sandy soil @Perki.  I used BF&B one year which was a mistake.  Added nitrogen makes the flowers/seedheads lax and prone to battering by wind and rain. Even in the most exposed area in my garden they remain upright and tidy.

@clematisdorset The red salvia is Royal Bumble and the pink flowers are cosmos Apricotta. 😊
  • Thank you @pitter-patter. I have not grown cosmos yet, but tried zinnias last year, which got a bit too tall. I think cosmos would be a better height.😊

    Thanks @clematisdorset :)

@Plantminded I had that feeling the soil may be a bit to rich for it . I do try and leave a few other faded perennials over the winter but they soon get battered as well.

Beautiful @Loxley. You seem to have a lovely relaxing spot there.
  • Thank you @Loxley, the bees certainly like it!  Your garden is looking fantastic.  I planted some of those Seselera after seeing them in your garden and they make a great feature, thank you!

I really like just having the one colour (blue/purple) against the green as you have done. It works very well.
