My cleaner has been and the house is really sparkling - very impressed (and feeling a bit guilty!!).
Look at it this way, you are providing someone with some much needed income - and I bet she is much younger and fitter than you are. You’d have done just as good a job when you were her age! ( Although, if you were like me, you were too busy with a job and kids, no energy left over, and no one was offering extra pay to clean the house)
My cousin used to have a cleaner but went round the house to make sure it was clean before the cleaner arrived! Once the cleaner became to frail to do the work she still used to have her round for a cuppa, and still paid her. This was in a small village where everybody knew everybody else, so she wouldn't want people thinking she had a mucky house, or was mean.
I have accidentally discovered a rather good idea 💡. I couldn't find one of my gloves so I put a thick leather glove on my left hand and thin, tight leather one on my right hand. Now I deal with thorny stuff with my left hand and use my right hand for delicate stuff and using secateurs. Genius or what?
I regularly wear odd gardening gloves, usually with an inside-out left one on my right hand. If you have a better solution for all my right-hand gloves wearing out way before the lefts, I'd be interested! I suppose a left-handed gardener with size S to XS hands to swap surviving ones with would be ideal
