More cheerfulness yesterday. My new B&D workmate arrived early aaaaaaand...

My dear neighbour  o:) and gardening pal invites us down now and again for an evening of craic and to set the world to rights; she knows that I need a change of scenery. Yesterday was not a good day for mum  :/ but when we got to garden pal's house the telly was on (I don't have one) and she was watching a program about Kew gardens. There we sat being gardening pals. It was great.

My thrown together hanging basket has worked out well! I didn’t get round to planting it up properly this year,  and it still had last years ivy in ( plus the grass growing in the moss I’d pulled out of the ‘lawn’ to line it). I put two aptemia plants in, and they are growing well, plus a couple of self seeded strawberry plants I found under the front hedge. I’ve been able to grab a fruit or two as I head out of the front door! Might do something similar but properly, next year.

Not really a RTBC but it made my wife and I laugh.  As most know she's currently in hospital and on the lunch menu was 'raspberry mousse', which she ordered.  When I went to visit her this afternoon there was this tub containing something bright pink with a dayglow yellow topping.  That was the raspberry mousse which for some inexplicable reason she hadn't eaten.  Looking at the list of contents and it actually contains 3.5% raspberry puree, all the rest is basically a list of various sugars, milk extracts and additives.  To add to our amusement, the best before date is 07.02.2025.  I know it's stored in a freezer but that still seems excessive.

My RTBC is that Twitter is said to be worth only 33% of what Elon Musk paid for it.

Had five goldfinches feeding on knapweed seeds in our "meadow" this morning.  Entertaining little birds...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

My best friend came over this afternoon to share a cuppa and cheer me up. She also bought some morish biscuits and a pile of paperbooks. Bless her.

@KT53 when my mum was in a couple of months ago they were concerned that she wasn't eating well. No flippin' wonder. If I ever was in hospital I'd starve to death.
My mum packs away huge plates of chilli with rice or salad or baked potato, same with curry. She would eat it to the band playing! She's not keen on rubber sausages and mash, fish fingers and mash, sloppy mince and mash...
To save the dietician an appointment I sent her a list of mum's four meals a day plus snacks for the week after she came out of hospital. Impressed is not the word! 🤣
