I went on the 5 mile walk with the walking group, about 15 of us, but I'm afraid to say I only managed 3 miles. That is less than I did with the group in France. I could have done a bit more but it was a good place to go back home. We'd been on footpaths that I'd walked before and came to the other end of my village so a choice of another hour's walk or 10 minutes back to our cottage. I went home as my knee was getting quite painful, that started when we crossed a muddy field with tractor tyre ruts. The group walked faster than the group in France.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Very sorry to hear that @Busy-Lizzie. Hope it's a peaceful end. Don't blame you for cutting short your walk, I would have done the same. Hope your knee is ok though.
That's a good result @D0rdogne_Damsel , you must be very pleased at the results of all your hard work.
Wow, wow! @Allotment Boy, what a marvellous surprise from your wife. The menu looks scrumptious. I've never been to the Ritz. I think I've only dined in London a couple of times in my life!
It's been dry again but cloudy, max 6c so not very warm. I've managed a bit of gardening, cutting off old hellebore leaves as they are beginning to flower. Reinforced my netting barricade around the bulbs coming up under the magnolia tree. Blasted magpie managed to breach it, they are very clever birds. Sad to say but not unexpected, the tiny goldfinch didn't survive.
We had a very enjoyable evening with DIL Wed, she cooked a chicken risotto which was good. She's given me four lovely large, full length curtains which I've always admired. They do need a good clean though and apparently have to be drycleaned, although they are mostly polyester. I'm pondering whether I could wash them myself but they have velvet hems, metal eyelets and some crystal embroidery - tricky!
You have been thoroughly spoiled @Allotment Boy! So sorry to hear about your friend @Busy-Lizzie. Hope the rats are gone @punkdoc and sorry to hear that you didn't get good news at the hosp. But did you buy any books?
I've gone a bit mad with my online book buying and now have a stack of about 7 to look forward to. Also a 700-page book on Napoleon! Someone said something about him recently and I thought - I really don't know enough about Napoleon so bought this book. I've read 45 pages so far. The idea is to read a bit after I've done my computer work and before the tv goes on for the evening. But the computer has kept me chained to it for the past couple of days with event planning/funding bids etc.
Sorry to hear about your poor wee man @Nanny Beach - always a difficult time. We have decided we are too old to get a pet now.

Yum, yum, @Allotment Boy.
Rat man coming today, we haven't seen any activity for a week, so hopefully it might be over.

Wow @Allotment Boy that sounds delicious.

I'm feeling very sad. One of our best friends in France is in hospital with inoperable cancer.

Hope the rat man has good news for you and Moira @punkdoc.
